DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Train in accordance with job responsibilities and applicable specifications. Prepares Rail cars and prepares parts for painting, masks, primes, caulks and paints railcars and parts. Responsible for using a variety of tools to both prepare a surface for painting and for painting the objects' surface. Ensure complete surface coverage designated in the job specifications. Other tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Previous paint/blast experience is strongly recommended

  • Previous experience in/around shop noise, paint fumes, dust and working in all weather conditions

  • Must be able to work in any shift

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced heavy industrial production environment

  • Ideal candidate possesses the ability to work autonomously or as part of a team

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers

  • Motivated to continuously improve and learn new skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Will be required to stand continuously, repetitively grasp, push or pull with hands, frequently walk, bend, squat, and/or twist. Walk up ladders and/or scaffoldings (must be comfortable with heights) and work in small confined spaces

  • Capable of frequently lifting up to 50 pounds for the duration of an 8-10 hour shift

  • Capable of wearing hard hat, safety clothing, ear plugs, and safety goggles (prescription googles provided) up to 10 hours per day.

  • Must be clean shaven as you will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment which includes respirators

  • May be required to handle hazardous materials and waste (will be train on proper handling of materials and waste)

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions

  • Comfortable working in an environment that contains dust and loud noises, paint fumes and some hazardous materials/waste

  • Must be able to work all shifts

Position Description: Apply finishes in accordance with an established sequence of operations, predetermined, and repeatable* process per blueprints, specifications, instructions, and quality requirements to aircraft, missiles or space vehicle interiors, exteriors, parts and assemblies. Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare surfaces to assure proper adhesion including selection and use of agents to accomplish typical operations such as removal of corrosion, paint stripping and protective coating; chemical reactivation of paint surfaces, etc. Perform rework and touchup painting, both spray and brush, per BAC specifications. Prepare the various paint materials (such as primer, enamels, lacquers, etc.) per BAC specifications. Clean and service spray guns, paint tanks, brushes, hoses and related equipment after using. Mask and unmask required areas to facilitate corrosion removal or painting operations. Prepare and set up all equipment and supplies to perform work assignment. Operate ovens and ensure the curing and air filtering equipment are functioning and in proper mode for current process (such as oven temperature, booth pressure drop, breathing air, humidity, etc) and document as required. Monitor and maintain time sensitive materials/processes. Screen work instructions to support division of work for incoming orders. Part mark and wrap parts/assemblies as required per BAC specifications. Obtain and maintain any certifications and qualifications as required. Definition of Terms: * Repeatable: Where the finish is applied in an environment where a majority of paint operations occur everyday consistent in finish type, application and fixuring.
