Clay County Missouri has an opportunity for someone with experience in interior and exterior painting of structures, buildings, and other surfaces with an attention to detail. We are looking for someone knowledgeable about materials for each type of job as well as using various painting tools to complete the work while following safety measures.
The ideal candidate possesses good color vision and aesthetic instincts. They will also have time management skills, a valid driver's license, and be insured to drive.
Starting salary is $17.00 per hour with an employee benefits package that includes two defined benefit retirement plans fully funded by the County and a deferred-compensation plan with a match on the first 4% contributed. We also offer three medical plans including two high deductible plans, dental, vision, two flexible spending accounts, and supplemental plans. Full-time employees are also offered life insurance (2X annual salary) paid by the County, paid vacation/sick leave, 14 paid holidays, LTD and tuition reimbursement.

General Purpose:
The Painter paints various facilities throughout the county. This position works independently under the direction of the Building Services Manager- or assigned manager.
Primary Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assembling Scaffolding, ladders, or other equipment to safely complete the area to be painted
Gathering all necessary supplies to complete the space to be painted
Covering trim, floors, furniture, and other surfaces with tape, drop cloths and other protective coverings to shield from paint
Knowledge of various types of substrates and the best product to be applied for proper adhesion
Working knowledge of various coatings and proper application technique
Experience with painting application equipment (i.e. Brush, roller, and spray equipment)
Proper surface preparation: i.e. cleaning, filling holes and cracks, and sanding until smooth and ready to be painted
Applying primer and other sealers as necessary to ensure the coating adheres
Applying paint, stain, and other finishes to paint surfaces using paintbrushes, rollers, or sprayers
Maintaining an inventory of supplies such as brushes, rollers, drop cloths, etc.
Cleaning and keeping equipment in a neat and orderly working condition
Removing and reinstalling fixtures (doorknobs, electric switch covers) as necessary
Following safeguards, rules, and regulations
Perform other related duties as assigned and reasonably qualified to perform
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Attention to detail.

Ability to see with 20/20 corrected vision and see colors clearly.
Physical strength, stamina, and dexterity
Familiarity with painting tools and materials
Time management skills to ensure tasks are completed on schedule.
Ability to read and write English sufficiently read warning labels and SDS sheets.
Ability to respond, when needed, to emergency events
Ability to interact effectively and courteously with visitors and County staff.
Ability to independently and safely carry out tasks, duties and responsibilities assigned.
Ability to pass a drug screening test.
Ability to handle detailed and stressful situations in an appropriate manner.
Ability to perform duties in areas that may be occupied or in service
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Legally licensed and insured to drive a motor vehicle and the ability to drive a motor vehicle under normal and inclement weather situations

Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively on the telephone and in person.
