Job Description

We have a full-time opening for a painter apprentice

Must be able to work at least 5 shifts per week and be available weekdays.

  • PAINTER APPRENTICE - MUST HAVE 1 YEAR EXPERIENCE
  • Be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Up to $18.00 per hour depending on qualifications plus benefits

Description: Painting of interior and exterior of single family homes and light commercial projects



Responsibilities:
Masking, sanding, caulking, puttying and painting



Requirements:
Must have reliable transportation and some hand tools (paint brushes, putty knives, masker etc...)

Position Summary Incumbents, under leadership of lead maintenance painter, perform skilled painting work., interior and exterior wall preparations, finishes, and repairs. Assignment Responsibilities ● Incumbents clean, hand or power wash, size, sandpaper, steel wool, scrape and sandblast surfaces preparatory to painting. ● Mixes, matches, and applies latex and oil based paints, varnishes, stains, shellac, laquers, enamels and other finishes. ● Prepares sheetrock, wood siding, metal, brick, stucco, cement and various synthetic construction products for paints and finishes. ● Cleans and cares for brushes, rollers and spray guns and related equipment. ● Erects and rigs scaffolds. ● Covers woodwork and furniture to protect it from paint overspray, cleaners, or thinners. ● Removes spattered paint after job is complete. ● May assign and review work of other maintenance painters in the performance of painting and repair work. ● Check condition of woodwork, noting need for carpentry repairs. ● May do skilled work in other craft areas as assigned. ● Inspects and maintains paint shop equipment and vehicles. ● Inspects buildings or other items needing painting; estimate time, materials and cost involved; maintain records and reports of same. ● Performs other work as required. Special Requirements Possess and maintain a valid California Driver's License in compliance with Los Rios Board Regulation R-8343; employment is contingent upon meeting the requirements of Los Rios Board Regulation R-8343. This position may require operating a District or personal vehicle in order to complete assigned work within the scope of the position duties. Any offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a medical evaluation. Minimum Qualifications EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Equivalent to completion of an apprenticeship in the painting trade plus two years of experience as a journeyman-level painter. Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment. (Experience Requirement: One year of experience is equal to 12 months of experience at a maximum of 40 hours per week. Applicable part-time experience will be converted to the full-time equivalent for purposes of meeting the experience requirement.
