Paint Department Cost Analyst

Job Description

The Paint Department Cost Analyst position is responsible for the distribution of accurate and timely Product and Work Order budgeting and reporting Product performance weekly in accordance with policy. This job relies heavily on MS Access and MS Excel. Proficiency and daily use of these two applications are requirements for the job.

The base core job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Produce metrics and perform analytical work using Microsoft Office products, Project Management, and Earned Value Management software to aid BIW's Paint Department in the successful execution of ship construction.

• Develop and support weekly performance review across Paint Department areas

• Work effectively with other support organizations to ensure plans are properly integrated with all support functions.

• Effectively communicate analysis of performance with Paint Department Leadership and make well-reasoned and actionable recommendations.

• Measure and monitor budget and Estimate At Completion (EAC's) baselines, including the impact of decision making on future performance.

• Apply project management principles to assigned projects.

Required/Preferred Education/Training

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Technical/Engineering, or a related field OR Graduate of BIW Apprentice Program.

• 5 years of BIW Operations supervisory or cost analysis experience is required.

• Demonstrated MS Access and MS Excel proficiency is required.

Required/Preferred Experience

• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access skills required to manage & manipulate data/information.

• Good project management skills including prioritization of multiple tasks and deliverables.

• Ability and drive to work independently and within a dynamic team environment.

• Ability to build strong relationships across the BIW organization is critical.

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Highly motivated person with proven analytical skills.

• Adept at prioritizing and managing to deadlines.
