In partnership with the USDA Forest Service National Partnership Office (NPO), MobilizeGreen is seeking a Communications Resource Assistant (RA) to be trained in a variety of skills and tools to lead the office's communications work and support non-communication administrative functions. This position will also act as a liaison between the NPO and Office of Communications for additional training, resource and collaboration. The 6-month RA internship position will be located in Washington, DC. Diverse applicants strongly encouraged to apply.

Term: Full-time (40 hours per week) for 6 months, October 1st, 2019 to March 31st, 2020


  • $500/week living allowance

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Train and become proficient with the following design-related tools:

  • Tableau

  • Microsoft Publisher, Canva, or equivalent

  • Train and become proficient with the following data-related tools:

  • ArcGIS

  • NRM (internal Forest Service database)

  • AgilQuest (internal room reservation service)

  • AdobeConnect (online teleconference service)

  • Work with other NPO staff to plan, design, and produce desired communication products

  • Establish a strong connection with the Office of Communications, and help facilitate collaboration between the Office of Communications and the National Partnership Office

  • Help schedule and run meetings

  • Help maintain the National Partnership Office's internal online resources

  • Provide assistance as necessary and appropriate for non-communications work within the National Partnership Office

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

The work environment presents normal, every-day risks or discomforts typical of offices, meeting rooms, field, and travel situations. Local travel in the metropolitan areas and locations outside the office may be required on a limited basis. The work requires the RA be flexible and be able to adapt to a variety of work settings, both indoors and outdoors. There may be lifting and moving boxes and equipment up to 25 pounds. At special events such as outreach events, the RA may be standing and engaged in active discussions for long periods.


  • Must be 18 years of age.

  • A US Citizen or permanent resident

  • Preference to students/graduates of institutions of higher education, especially minority-serving institutions

  • Familiarity and comfort with producing high-quality writing

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, namely Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Willingness to learn new, possibly unfamiliar, skills, and to assist on non-communications work as needed

  • Desire to work collaboratively on a small, adaptive team
