  • Incumbents of key positions must be removed from their military recall status if alternatives for filling the position during an emergency are not available.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-7000 Packing And Processing Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The screen out element for this position is the ability to lead or supervise the work of the position.

JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  • Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised and personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/ Equal Employment Treatment.

  • Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.

  • Knowledge and application of the regulations, instructions, procedures and work methods governing the preparation, inspection, storage, and loading hazardous materials, explosives, ammunition, and other items requiring special handling for air, water and surface movement.

  • Knowledge of rules and procedures governing the characteristics, reviews, storage, repair, disposal, or preparation for air movement.

  • Skill in the use of manual or computerized equipment to access regulatory guidance for instructions regarding packing, shipping, and labeling of national and international shipments and shipping databases for researching cargo status.

  • Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Air Reserve Technicians are part of the regular civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain active membership in an Air Force Reserve unit so long as they occupy ART positions. As members of reserve units, ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month. In addition, they are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Force Reserve units and members are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency. This is a standing register used to fill potential positions at AFRC locations as vacancies occur. Some positions may have promotion potential to a higher grade than the grade being filled. Multiple vacancies may be filled from this announcement. The beginning and ending salaries may vary depending on location of position. The cut-off date for these positions is the 25th of each month.
