A Packaging Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of machines that are used for the manufacture of finished goods. The machines operate at rates ranging from 100 units per minute to 250 units per minute.
The work environment is very fast-paced and requires a high degree of attentiveness and the ability to react quickly to workplace variables. Along with other team members in production, this employee has the general responsibility of supporting the achievement of site and Company goals and objectives. This employee will also have duties and responsibilities as outlined below.
Major tasks include but are not limited to:
Retrieve and read the production schedules to determine which jobs will be run during each shift. Perform all start up, shut down, and change over procedures as stated in the standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Continuously monitor Quality of products, including package appearance and other checks, and ensure proper components are being used for each job. Report any quality concerns to supervisor & QA department.
Responsible for knowing how to run and make small adjustments to equipment/machinery in the assigned production line area.
Record all down time using the appropriate resource. Monitor and record production related numbers for the Production Supervisor.
Complete required paperwork throughout the shift correctly and entirely. Assist team members in other areas of the production line as needed.
Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained by keeping work area clean and conducting a final cleaning near the end of each shift. Other housekeeping duties as assigned.
Advocate and practice the principles of the company Safety program.,
Other duties as assigned.
Person must be able to sit, stand, and walk for the entire shift. Frequent stooping, stretching, bending, turning, reaching and climbing. Ability to pull, push, carry or lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and 50-100 lbs. occasionally with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must have the legal right to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship now or in the future for employment visa status
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have access to reliable transportation
Must be able to work overtime with our without reasonable accommodation
Must be able to read, write, comprehend and communicate in English
One year of experience working with machinery in a manufacturing environment
Experience operating packaging equipment such as robotics, filling machines, case packers, labelers, etc.
Experience watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
Experience blending and making a product in a batch process
