Summary:
The Packaging Tech is responsible for the visual inspection, rejection, and packaging of final products.

Primary responsibilities for role:

  • Perform paced inspections of final container products for multiple categories of defects.

  • Document job tasks as required on the Batch Production Record (BPR), Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) document or other acceptable form(s).

  • Perform housekeeping tasks and maintain department housekeeping at an optimal level.

  • Adhere to all company safety and cGMP policies and practices.

  • Meet and maintain visual inspection recertification requirements through knowledge of the PDA Lexicon for glass defects and the in-house training and certification standards.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Packaging Technician duties: Additional Packaging Technician duties: Set-up, operate and troubleshoot various packaging equipment; Manually package products; Inspect packaged and pre-packaged products for possible defects; Conduct an accurate count of pre and post packaged products; May off load and load products from cages, carts, and boxes; and May operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, etc. In Grade Salary Adjustment

Requirements:
Set-up and operate multiple label verification vision systems on vial labelers and cartoners. Set-up and operate multiple vial labelers, vial cartoners, shrinkbanding machines and other equipment related to final container labeling. Conduct periodic challenges for the various packaging systems.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Able to work effectively as a member of a team. Must pass annual vision testing for near vision and colorblindness. Must be able to pass initial visual inspection certification within 90 days of hire date. Able to identify product defects in accordance with the PDA Lexicon for glass defects and other applicable SOPs. Must be capable of maintaining continuous and concentrated focus on assigned tasks during packaging activities.

Education: High School Diploma.

Experience: Preferred Packaging Operator/Inspector experience

The Packaging Setup Technician will support and assist Maintenance as needed to ensure continuous and efficient operation of all packaging line equipment and systems while acting as a liaison to other departments on behalf of Packaging. Hours: 2nd shift (3:30p -2.45a) Level: N5/N7 Packaging Set Up Tech I Primary responsibilities for role: * Enter all service requests into a database (i.e. Maximo, etc.). * Adhere to all company safety and cGMP policies and practices. * Conduct changeover and setup of all packaging lines for vials of various sizes (i.e. 3 mL, 250 mL, etc.) and syringe products for product runs. * Make necessary equipment adjustments during production runs as needed * Partner with Maintenance on set up of complex equipment (i.e. vision system adjustments) * Assist Maintenance on equipment and system troubleshooting and repairs. * As needed, assist on other Packaging operation duties such as line duties (i.e. operation of labeler, cartoner, etc.., ) during the packaging of a batch. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of and ability to repair Industrial/mechanical equipment parts, tools, and systems. Requirements for Packaging Tech I: Position requires an Associate's degree in a mechanical maintenance or related field of study Or An equivalent combination of education and experience in industrial/mechanical maintenance equipment, parts, tools, and systems repairs. Packaging Setup Technician II - The Packaging Setup Technician II will serve as a SME and will partner with Maintenance as needed to ensure continuous and efficient operation of all packaging line equipment while acting as a liaison to other departments on behalf of Packaging. In addition, the Packaging Set Up Tech II will assist the Packaging management team with review and selection of new equipment and systems needed for the Packaging department. Primary Responsibilities: * Must perform all duties of a Packaging Set Up Tech I * Adhere to all company safety and cGMP policies and practices. * Support Packaging equipment and process improvement projects, including scheduling function testing and other maintenance/engineering tasks * Assist Department management in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification and Process Qualification (OQ and PQ) of new equipment. To include travel with Management or Project leads to vendor sites to assist in determining selected equipment and systems. * Maybe called on to provide equipment Maintenance (at an entry level mechanic) repairs. * Must serve as at trainer for less experience Set Up Techs. * Serves as a SME in the area of equipment and system operations. Requirements for Packaging Tech II: External Requirements: Position requires an Associate's degree in a mechanical maintenance or related field of study plus 1 year experience in industrial/mechanical maintenance equipment, parts, tools, and systems repairs. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience in industrial/mechanical maintenance equipment, parts, tools, and systems repairs. Internal Requirements: Must be at a Packaging Tech II level with a minimum "Achieves" PMP rating or minimum of 2 years prior experience industrial/mechanical maintenance equipment, parts, tools, and systems repairs.
