We are looking for someone who wants to make a positive change in the world! Purple Carrot provides plant-based (vegan) meal kits to help people lead healthier lives and positively impact the environment. We are a 4 year-old company that is growing rapidly and we need your help to get even bigger.

As a meal-kit company, we are packing and shipping refrigerated ingredients every week. It is imperative that our packaging is appropriate for the ingredients to ensure food arrives fresh and safe to customers. The ideal Packaging Supply Chain Coordinator is a strong project manager with both analytical and soft skills to tackle one of Purple Carrots most complex operational functions. The Packaging Supply Chain Coordinator will be responsible for assuring the continuous supply and timely procurement of all internal and external packaging materials and supplies in order to maintain maximum production levels at costs consistent with quality specifications. The ideal candidate has planning experience and can manage everything from packaging launches, to a holistic redesign of branding, to a spec change. We are looking for an eager, organized, detail oriented, roll-up-your-sleeves contributor.

Responsibilities

  • Develop forecast of internal and external packaging requirements and place weekly POs to ensure that materials are ordered and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Manage inventory levels of over 25 SKUs across all fulfillment sites.
  • Responsible for identifying and assigning appropriate package for all ingredients and working closely with Culinary and Ops on costs and available option.
  • Coordinating with our Brand / Marketing Teams to ensure our brand comes through on all packaging including managing production runs and distribution of specific branded materials.
  • Conduct test packing of ingredients for durability and shelf-life. Make recommendations on product usage to Culinary and Ops based on results.
  • Collaborate with vendors to develop an overall strategy to keep waste and costs down.
  • Research industry trends of new materials and techniques with an emphasis on decreasing environmental impact.

Requirements

Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years supply chain experience, specifically ingredient packaging, or food e-comm/CPG/retail operations experience. Food handling, food safety experience a plus!
  • Experienced and comfortable with relationship management with suppliers and distributors, sourcing new product and suppliers, spec creation, price negotiation, and inventory management.
  • Superior user of Excel and Google Sheets and strong analytical skills and capabilities
  • Ability to use data and reports to make decisions, identify problems and improve buying process
  • Strong Project Management skills
  • Able to report to Needham, Massachusetts headquarters
  • Able to travel up to 10%
