A day in the life of a Packaging Operator at Thorne requires:

  • Becoming knowledgeable of the applicable provisions of the Production Department's Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

  • Remaining knowledgeable on an ongoing and timely basis as changes in the SOPs and GMPs occur.

  • Committing to the Packaging Credentialed Training program where the proper operating knowledge, skills and experience are acquired to meet the high quality of proficiency.

  • Quickly setting up all phases of the bottling/labeling equipment for smooth operation and maximum output. Ensuring all parts are secured prior to run.

  • Immediately notifying lead/supervisor of any machine problems or anomalies outside of normal operations that effect output and the well-being of the equipment or the quality of the product.

  • Having sufficient knowledge of the bottling and labeling equipment being operated to make adjustments, without supervision, within guidelines outlined in the applicable SOP and current Credentialed Training program level.

  • Verifying batch record and product descriptions are correct. Verifying that set ups are correct (capsule count, bottle fill weights, bottle size, lid, label details, etc.)

Employment is contingent on satisfactory results from a drug screen, background and reference checks, an assessment test, and a physical examination.

What You Need:

  • High school diploma

  • Must be able to move or lift items weighing up to 55 pounds from floor to table and from table to floor, often repetitively

  • Prior manufacturing experience preferred

  • ability to work a 4X10 schedule with some overtime required

As a Thorne Specialty Manufacturing Team Member you'll be joining a team of more than 300 passionate individuals committed to our cause of providing superior health solutions. * THIS JOB POSTING EXPIRES 6/9/20* A day in the life of a Specialty Manufacturing Operator at Thorne requires: * Becoming knowledgeable of the applicable provisions of the Production Department's Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and follows them. * Remaining knowledgeable on an ongoing and timely basis as changes in the SOPs and cGMPs occur. * Taking a total quality approach in operating machines and producing products. * Being at work as scheduled, starting work at the beginning of a shift, being on time to meetings, arriving back from lunch and breaks on time, completing assigned tasks in a timely manner, and working overtime as required. * Cross-training in Specialty Manufacturing operations and working willingly in different production areas as assigned. * Committing to the related Credentialed Training program where the proper operating knowledge, skills and experience are acquired to meet the high quality of proficiency expected as a Specialty Manufacturing Team Member. * Quickly Setting up all phases of Specialty Operations and the related equipment for smooth operation and maximum output, while maintaining quality and integrity of the product. * Notifying lead/supervisor immediately of any machine problems or anomalies outside of normal operations that effect output and the well-being of the equipment or the quality of the product. Possessing sufficient knowledge of the specialty manufacturing equipment to make adjustments, without supervision, within guidelines outlined in the applicable SOP and current Credentialed Training program level. * Maintaining awareness of potential cross-contamination while working with multiple raw materials and exhibits vigilance in taking proper precautions (changes gloves as needed, proper cleaning of equipment in between use of different materials etc). * Verifying batch record, paperwork and other applicable product paperwork and descriptions are correct and meet requirements. * Entering and calculating weights and figures using a calculator or similar apparatus with accuracy and ease. * Maintaining a reasonable working pace throughout all manufacturing and cleaning processes. Learning and helping to maintain all technical procedures related to assembly, disassembly, and cleaning of equipment. * Maintaining the overall condition of the machine and machine parts, reporting issues when found. Collecting the required quantity of samples as directed and accurately performs in process and all other tests as required. * Being capable of achieving forklift certification and operating forklifts properly, if necessary. Becoming fully trained and certified in any of the Specialty Manufacturing Operations required. * This is a non-exempt (hourly) position. What You Need: * High school diploma * Prior Manufacturing experience * Math Ability: Employee has the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in the units of measurement used in the Production Department, using whole numbers and decimals (for example, converting grams to kilograms). * Reasoning Ability: During disassembly and assembly of machines, employee is able to discern that the parts and tools are the correct ones for the tasks at hand. Additionally, employee is able to understand the manufacturing process and how each task in the process might affect up or down stream processes.
