Packaging Operator

High Point, NC
2nd Shift: 3:00pm - 11:30pm

Position Summary

Responsible for the overall operation and performance of the Automated CloseOut System, maintaining quality, and production objectives. This position is located in High Point, NC.

Key Duties / Responsibilities

Operate the packaging system monitoring overall performance, efficiency and quality.

Perform equipment start-up, shut-down and preventive maintenance.

Sample and monitor product quality coming off the system, making modifications as needed.

Troubleshoot packaging system performance and quality problems, correcting them and stabilizing performance as they occur.

Replenish materials ongoing as materials are depleted.

Maintains production, efficiency and quality records related to the packaging system operation.

Other duties as assigned. This job description describes one skill (or part of a skill) within a multi-skilled production team member job.

Manufacturing. Regular standing, kneeling, bending, walking, and stooping.

Position may require lifting up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis and 70 lbs. on occasion. Associate is required to wear hearing protection.

The Supervisor, through assigned work activities, a training curriculum, and on-the-job training, will develop a strong working knowledge of all aspects of the day-to-day recycling operations at the plant, including but not limited to, Safety, Production Planning, Quality Assurance, Equipment and Facilities Maintenance, Shipping, Buying, Receiving, Human Resources, Suppliers and Customers.</p><p><strong>ESSENTIAL DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILTIES:</strong></p><p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned. This position will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:</p><p><strong>Safety</strong></p><ul> <li>Personally demonstrate and cultivate a “Safety First” culture in the plant</li> <li>Strive to ensure that all employees are aware of, and continuously coached on the importance of company safety processes, and how they benefit from a safe working environment</li> <li>Inspect plant and the work of employees to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment)</li> <li>Collaborate with Safety Team to monitor compliance and identify safety issues</li> <li>Ensure the safe use of equipment and schedule regular maintenance</li> <li>Maintain up to date, all OSHA required documents (OSHA 300,301, and 300A)</li> </ul><p><strong>Production Planning</strong></p><ul> <li>Work closely with Plant Manager to develop daily production plans that ensures maximum production efficiency</li> <li>Work closely Plant Manager to effectively manage labor based on workload, to achieve daily efficiency goals</li> <li>Identify issues in efficiency and suggest improvements</li> <li>Work closely with Plant Manager to submit reports on performance and progress</li> </ul><p><strong>Quality Assurance</strong></p><ul> <li>Gain understanding on customer material specifications and document all material rejections by customers</li> <li>Gain detail knowledge on all materials that can possibly be upgraded / regraded to ensure they are being handled in such a way to maximize margin</li> <li>Perform daily material audits to ensure a quality product is being delivered to the customer</li> </ul><p><strong>Equipment and Facilities Maintenance</strong></p><ul> <li>Oversee daily/weekly/monthly inspection checklists of all equipment</li> <li>Maintain RMR facilities up to company standards, including grounds and employee break areas and restrooms</li> <li>Manage the upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards</li> </ul><p><strong>Human Resources</strong></p><ul> <li>Document all discussions with employees concerning safety, pay increases, and issues with other employees or managers</li> <li>Ensure that any issues involving an employee becoming hostile or threatening violence on the property are handled by calling local law enforcement immediately and Human Resources</li> </ul><p><strong>Supervisory Responsibilities: </strong>Yes</p><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS:</strong></p><p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
