Job Title: Packaging Mechanic
Reports to: Facility Manager
Responsible for the installation, commissioning and validation of packaging linesand equipment in the distribution center.
Set up and maintain the packaging lines to achieve required efficienciesandquality levels.
Compile set up and operating instructions for the equipment.
Train Packaging Operators.
Set up and implement an effective service and maintenance program,including routine cleaning, lubrication and inspection to ensure maximum performance.
Repair equipment as quickly aspossible to minimized downtime.
Manage spare parts and maintain suppliercontracts.
Collect and monitor data on packaging equipment performance to reducecosts and improve delivery.
Repair and upkeep all essential facility items, such as piping, HVAC, electrical systems, lighting, and all item pertaining to safety and security (i.e., cameras, emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, etc.) to ensure asafe work environment.
Employee must workincompliance with Alere NA QMS and Quality Policy requirements.
Required to complywith 29 CFR 1910.1030 Blood Borne Pathogens and applicable SOPs.
Maintain knowledge of production and quality systems/GMP
Assist with facility maintenance, such as, but not limited to; office upkeep, IT requirements, lavatory repairs asneeded.
Maximize time spent on packaging lines and help out when necessary
Other duties as required.
High School graduate or equivalency
Two to four yearsofexperience with packaging equipment, including, butnotlimited to carton erectors,glue systems, check weighers,coding systems, wrapping and banding setting and changing parts.
PLC a definite plus
Knowledge and skillshelpful in the basic electrical,validation, maintenance systems, sensors,quality systems, problem solving and training.
Computer, carton erectors, check weighers, wrapping/collation machines,conveyors, PLC
Grasping, bending standing, crawling, stretching, twisting, pushing, lifting up to
50 lbs., keyboarding.
