PURPOSE OF ROLE:
The Packaging Manager will oversee day-to-day operations of packaging lines and staff. Ensure each line runs at optimum levels to meet production goals and maintain a quality finished product. The Packaging Manager will review processes and procedures on an on-going basis to seek new and innovative ways to improve efficiencies and enhance safety practices. The Packaging Manager will work in collaboration with other managers and team members to ensure timelines, processes, housekeeping, safety requirements and ISO Standards are met.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Oversee packaging operations in a fast-paced warehouse and distribution environment.
Direct oversight of packaging line Supervisors and Team Leads.
Manage daily workloads/goals for packaging staff.
Recruit and hire packaging staff.
Promote positive employee relations while ensuring compliance with corporate guidelines.
Conduct daily toolbox talks with staff to discuss workload and safety.
Work in a safe manner and follow all company rules and policies concerning safety and PPE.
Review and approve timecards and PTO requests.
Responsible for personnel issues and performance evaluations within department.
Promote a productive and efficient work environment.
Collaborate with General Manager to ensure productivity, quality, and safety measures are met.
Perform any additional duties as assigned by the General Manager.
Work in collaboration with Rail Manager to ensure rail cars are spotted and released within allotted periods.
Work in collaboration with Warehouse Manager to ensure efficient workflow and accurate inventory.
Work in collaboration with General Manager and Rail Manager to strategically plan workflow and production schedules.
KNOWLEDGE / QUALIFICATONS / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
ISO 9001: 2015 Compliance and Execution.
Demonstrated experience in Bulk Materials packaging and specifically FF&S Equipment.
Minimum 2 years of experience in supervisory role.
Knowledge of warehouse and packaging equipment
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of warehouse function and operating policies.
Demonstrated experience in handling rail car movement for production scheduling.
MS Office Suite proficiency.
Excellent comprehension of industry HSE and Environmental protocols and practices
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma/GED
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
A variety of standing, sitting, and walking throughout the day
Potential lifting of up to 55 pounds
Occasional climbing of ladders
Use of basic warehouse equipment
Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending upon season.
