The Intern

  • Package Engineering provides effective and functional technical support to Package Engineers for secondary and tertiary packaging components including Point of Purchase Displays as assigned in a scope of work document. The Intern

  • Package Engineering reports to the Manager, Packaging Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

Critical contributions this role is counted on to deliver include:

  • Developing and writing accurate packaging component specifications for review & approval.

  • Conducting tests on packaging as required to support departmental objectives.

  • Assisting in developing new packaging which may include sketches and design details of containers for shipping, protecting, or display items, and indicating critical dimensions.

  • Setting up and operating Package Testing Laboratory, including maintenance repair and calibration of equipment.

  • Presenting findings and recommendations to key stakeholders within the organization.

  • Prepare samples for shelf-life testing, including product and package performance under various conditions required.

  • Maintain accurate documentation on all projects and submit written reports in a timely fashion.

You'll be most successful in this role if you have:

  • Strong reasoning, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills

  • Knowledge of package testing procedures

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively collaborate cross-functionally

Capabilities & Skills Required

In order to take on these challenges, you'll need to have:

  • Completed at least 2 years towards a bachelor's degree in Package Engineering.

  • Knowledge of package testing procedures

  • ISTA (International Safe Transit Association), TAPPI (Technical Association for Pulp Paper Industry) & ASTM.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities, and to effectively negotiate project requests and priorities.

  • Positive & amicable interpersonal skills that help drive results of cross-functional and internal teams. Highly motivated, self-directed, self-managed and efficient.

  • Well-developed oral and written communication. Strong reasoning, analytical thinking & problem-solving skills a positive.

  • Technical skills including the ability to develop detailed packaging specifications and instructions.

  • Competent in developing innovative solutions for folding cartons, POP (point of purchase displays), corrugated and related paperboard-based packaging.

  • Basic/ Intermediate understanding of sciences.

  • Proficient math skills required to calculate averages, percentages, and various units of measures.

  • Computer skills Proficient: MS Office Suite, TOPS/CAPE. Basic Proficiency: Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop, SolidWorks, AutoCAD or 3D modeling software preferred.

  • Ability to work independently for periods of time.

  • Availability to start internship in January 2025 to June 2025.

Annual Pay

Annual Pay Range

$37,105.00 - $55,863.00

This represents the minimum and maximum base salary range for this role, plus annual incentive. Various elements are used to determine a candidate's starting salary such as job experience, specific skills, and comparison to internal incumbents currently in the role. This information is provided to applicants in accordance with state and local laws.

Pharmavite provides compensation for all overtime hours worked by non-exempt (hourly) employees in accordance with state and federal law. The need to work overtime hours will be determined by management, based on customer and business necessity to meet the needs of our business, Pharmavite may require employees to work overtime.

Voluntary overtime requested by non-exempt employees must be approved in advance by the employee's supervisor.
