Job responsibilities include developing and executing a packaging project for plan for parts flowing through the Logistics Center, addressing quality issues, and implementing cost reduction packaging projects.
Develop packaging solutions to protect finished painted components
Design for transport efficiency
Perform containerization analysis
Validate new packaging and containers during pilot phase
Coordinate with assembly planning for line-side storage and ergonomic considerations
Resolve safety and / or quality issues caused by current packaging
Resolve issues reported by 3PL or carriers
Develop, communicate and maintain supplier packaging requirements
Customers include facility supply chain and logistics employees, plant operations supervisors and line employees, factory engineering, and other supply chain functional areas. External contacts include global vendors.
Bachelor of Science in Packaging, Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or similar field is required
At least two years of experience in Industrial Packaging Design (large industrial experience desired)
Basic knowledge of processing (machining/assembly ops) desired
Knowledge of 3D modeling either PRO/E or CREO
Must be able to read blueprints and understand GD&T
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Analytical, technical and problem-solving skills
High energy and a demonstrated ability to implement and get results are essential
Detail oriented with troubleshooting and project leadership skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills required
Must be self-directed, self-starter, and be able to prioritize activities
Must enjoy working in a team environment, and have strong interpersonal and collaborations skills
