Packaging Engineer

Summary

Responsible for the design and development of custom packaging solutions to meet customer needs. Work in collaboration with design staff, sales team, and customers to troubleshoot, creatively resolve complex issues in packaging design and improve container development processes. Position will be in frequent communication with design staff, sales, customer service, production, and customers.

Duties

• Create novel packaging solutions using design and graphic technology

• Develop product sample prototypes for customer review and approval.

• Use CAD to build and design boxes and displays.

• Create CAD drawings and samples as required.

• Work with production team and customers to troubleshoot and solve machine run ability and product development issues.

• Assist with quote requests by providing technical information on packaging specifications and gain production approval of new products.

• Study illustrations, photographs, graphics, and text sample layouts.

• Make decisions regarding size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy (select styles and sizes of type and creates sample layouts for customers.

• Prepare layout prints, presents samples for manager, sales and/or client selection and approval.

• Cut and package corrugated samples as required.

Required Qualifications

• Knowledge of 3D CAD

• Experience with MS Office

• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

• Exposure to working/knowledge with Kongsberg Tables/Machines

• Ability to learn quickly

• Ability to problem solve

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ArtiosCAD or Autocad 3D

• Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator

• Exposure to Cape or TOPS Software

• 1-2 years professional experience
