Job Summary

FedEx Ground is hiring individuals to load and unload packages for shifts of approximately 2-4 hours in our fast-paced environment. Package Handlers are responsible for the physical loading, unloading and/or sorting of packages of varying sizes and weights by hand, including lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, scanning, placing packages, as well as physical bending, twisting, kneeling and etc. in a safe and efficient manner. Shifts may vary depending on package volume and business needs.

Package Handlers will receive a competitive hourly rate and are eligible for an attractive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, vacation, holiday pay, parental leave and tuition assistance after completion of an eligibility period. Flexible schedules are offered at many of our locations and will be discussed during the hiring process.

Position Description: Part of the team responsible for the distribution of materials to the production lines, maintaing physical storage locations and the issuing of materials within the business unit; and the accurate maintenance of inventory and records of all assigned materials and parts. Position Responsibilities: * Picks , prepares and delivers materials needed for a job and issues to the production floor * Follows established processes, insuring accurate on hand balances of all materials. * Maintains inventory storage to ensure logical, accurate and efficient storing and pulling of inventory * Part of the team which conducts physical inventory (cycle, annual, etc.) as scheduled and required * Inputs all appropriate detail into SAP an ERP system, or other computer programs in a timely manner to maintain an accurate data base, produce accurate reports and to track inventory data * Work order releases * Process daily inventory transactions * Practices lean strategies to reduce inventory, scrap and waste * Returns overstocked materials and disposes of obsolete materials * Assist in the set up and maintenance of Kanban systems * Runs required reports in order to assure accuracy, problem resolution and reports to management * Follows all safety requirements and works with safety in mind * Use of safe fork truck techniques to protect people, property and materials * Maintains awareness of hazardous areas and situations, immediately notifies team leader or supervisor of any quality or safety problems * Works cooperatively with others in a continuous improvement environment; attends and participates in team meetings, helps others as needed * Responsible for housekeeping, order and neatness of the storage areas (5S) * Keep Supervisor advised of any quality problems, concerns, delays, etc * Maintain an orderly and safe work environment * Follows established safety procedures and policies at all times and helps maintain an orderly and safe work environment * Suggest methods improvements or alternate methods and materials to reduce cost and/or improve quality * Performs other duties as apparent or assigned * Receives all incoming materials for the business unit and prepares daily receiving transactions Required Skills and Experience: * Entry level of experience * Functional knowledge Microsoft Office and use of MRP or other communications software * Ability to accurately perform transactions * Fork lift certified or ability to become fork lift certified * Current driver's license with a clean MVR * Detail oriented * Excellent time management skills * Excellent problem solving skills * Solid communication and interpersonal skills * Excellent organizational skills * Able to read and write English * Strong sense of urgency * Creative problem solving BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES: * Team Player * Excellent interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to effectively interact with a diverse team of people and to deal with fast paced work environment with rapidly changing work priorities. * Self-motivated * Exceptional organizational skills Wage: $16.24 & up DOE Wabash National offers a competitive benefits package including, medical, dental, vision, STD, LTD, Life, AD&D, 401(k), PTO and paid holidays.
