FedEx Ground Package Handlers load and unload sorted packages in a fast-paced environment and ensure that FedEx Ground continues to deliver packages to its customers on time and with care.

FedEx Ground facilities typically have multiple sorts operating daily in each location. During the sort, Package Handlers are responsible for the physical loading, unloading and/or sorting of packages by hand, including lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying and placing, in a safe and efficient manner. Package Handlers (PHs) may be assigned to or rotate through various areas and positions such as Loader, Unloader, Palletizer, Scan Weigh and Key (SWAK), Quality Assurance (QA), Facer, Switcher, etc.

Individuals who are interested in being considered for a Package Handler position are required to watch a virtual job preview before completing an employment application process. The virtual job preview, will provide a realistic preview of the Package Handler job.

Daily activities include assisting with warehouse operations and performing entry level warehouse and dock-related tasks, loading and unloading trucks, shipping and receiving, moving, handling and tracking packages and other material and assisting with transportation and distribution operations.

Package Handlers at FedEx Ground

Essential Functions of the Package Handler position

  • Utilizes "hand-to-surface" methods for all package handling.

  • Loads and unloads packages onto or from delivery vehicles, trailers, pallets, conveyor system carts and load gratings.

  • Lifts, carries, pushes and pulls packages on a continuous and repetitive basis for approximate shifts of two to four hours.

  • Determines the appropriate conveyor system by scanning packages, reading labels and charts, verifying numbers and memorizing information and sorts packages accordingly.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to understand and follow instruction regarding work duties and safety methods.

  • Ability to discern numbers and information in order to sort packages correctly.

  • Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, chutes and unloading devices.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.

  • PHs operating switching equipment must have a valid driver's license and maintain a Department of Transportation (DOT) file.

Responsibilities and Qualifications Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced operations leader for the position of Director, Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP). Reporting to the Sr. Director of Operations, this individual will work across the Bell, Giro, Blackburn, Raskullz, Krash, and Copilot brands. The Director, S&OP will lead all sales and operations planning functions and ensure flawless execution across product lines. This role is responsible for the management and coordination of the monthly global demand, supply, and inventory planning processes. This will include creating analysis reports for senior management, developing overall demand forecasts, and executing purchasing decisions. Responsibilities include all aspects of inventory management including inventory optimization and maintaining acceptable inventory levels in support of established objectives, safety stock strategies and product life cycle management. Essential Job Functions: * Demand planning o Coordinate product demand in accordance with sales plan o Partner with global sales and product teams to compile forecasted product demand in a timely manner and within range of sales plans, adjusting as business environment requires o Manage creation of monthly forecast, demand v. supply, inventory overview reports. Coach the Planning team on proper communication of this information to the markets and follow up steps required and on leading the forecast and buy process and to coordinate the Forecast vs. Actuals review process and ensure required adjustment to signals in SAP are updated per agreed cadence * Supply planning and buying o Plan and procure right product at right time in right quantity o Manage relevant master data maintenance as required to achieve sales optimization, including material master, safety stock requirements, lead times, and buying cut-off tables o Supply forecast-buy report and buy summary to senior management * Inventory o Optimize worldwide sales opportunity of inventory o Organize, escalate and follow up on excess inventory sales opportunities and programs with Business Team, Sales, Product Management, Finances, etc. o Manage inventory re-forecasting process to define inventory objectives and monthly follow up on action items to reach inventory objectives (cancel/delay purchase orders etc.) * Systems, policies and procedures o Support markets, colleagues and systems o Develop recommendations for systems, tools, and enhancements o Support centralization projects, which include simplifying future demand planning and buying as well as preparing and supporting future migrations, SAP upgrades and functionality implementations * Resources o Lead, coach, and develop team responsible for forecasting, demand-supply planning, buying and inventory management decisions at the product SKU level o Define training needs, career and succession planning o Manage department budget Education and Training: * BS/BS required.
