FedEx Ground Package Handlers load and unload sorted packages in a fast-paced environment and ensure that FedEx Ground continues to deliver packages to its customers on time and with care.

FedEx Ground facilities typically have multiple sorts operating daily in each location. During the sort, Package Handlers are responsible for the physical loading, unloading and/or sorting of packages by hand, including lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying and placing, in a safe and efficient manner. Package Handlers (PHs) may be assigned to or rotate through various areas and positions such as Loader, Unloader, Palletizer, Scan Weigh and Key (SWAK), Quality Assurance (QA), Facer, Switcher, etc.

Individuals who are interested in being considered for a Package Handler position are required to watch a virtual job preview before completing an employment application process. The virtual job preview, will provide a realistic preview of the Package Handler job.

Daily activities include assisting with warehouse operations and performing entry level warehouse and dock-related tasks, loading and unloading trucks, shipping and receiving, moving, handling and tracking packages and other material and assisting with transportation and distribution operations.

Package Handlers at FedEx Ground

Essential Functions of the Package Handler position

  • Utilizes "hand-to-surface" methods for all package handling.

  • Loads and unloads packages onto or from delivery vehicles, trailers, pallets, conveyor system carts and load gratings.

  • Lifts, carries, pushes and pulls packages on a continuous and repetitive basis for approximate shifts of two to four hours.

  • Determines the appropriate conveyor system by scanning packages, reading labels and charts, verifying numbers and memorizing information and sorts packages accordingly.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to understand and follow instruction regarding work duties and safety methods.

  • Ability to discern numbers and information in order to sort packages correctly.

  • Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, chutes and unloading devices.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.

  • PHs operating switching equipment must have a valid driver's license and maintain a Department of Transportation (DOT) file.

VIEW JOBS 12/5/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-05T00:00 Position Overview: The Applications Engineer (AE) effectively manages advanced applications customer projects that could include 3D Printing projects, Injection Molding, CNC Machining, or Sheet Metal by providing technical expertise in support of selling and retaining Protolabs services. This position is responsible for thorough review and evaluation of customer supplied 3D CAD data, Statements of Work, RFQ' s, and quality documents, while coordinating with process engineering, contracts, production and quality departments to manage risk. Additionally, the AE provides technical expertise to sales and external customers, with a primary focus on key accounts, regarding process capabilities and limitations; and serves as a technical consultant during virtual and face-to-face customer interactions (i.e. conference calls/webinars, tradeshows and customer site visits). Specific duties include: * Gain a solid understanding of the customer's technical requirements and ability to make design changes and communicate appropriate solutions * Evaluates customer requirements to best manage expectations and risks for advanced projects or complex geometries * Thoroughly review and evaluate customer supplied 3D CAD data, RFQ's, Statements of Work, drawings and quality documents to verify technical compliance * Coordinates with contracts, quality and process engineering departments to manage projects with non-typical customer requirements. * Provides technical guidance to sales and key account customers regarding process capabilities and limitations * Travels to trade shows and customer site visits as a technical expert for one or more of the services offered (3D Printing, Injection Molding, CNC Machining or Sheet Metal). * Assist the customer in working through recommended or required changes to their 3D CAD model to help them take advantage of Proto Labs' value. * Balance the objective of satisfying the customer requests with the potential of downstream risks to deliver acceptable parts on schedule. * Evaluates and manages customer quality issues by collaborating with the quality team when needed. * Effectively uses all work instructions and associated documentation when evaluating customer quotes. * Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: * 3-5 years of experience in mechanical or manufacturing engineering or 3D printing processes is preferred or related technical focus or equivalent work experience * 3-5 years in a directly related customer experience role with the responsibility of problem solving, leading projects and customer facing teams * Excellent technical aptitude with ability to communicate technical information to others at various levels * Knowledge of CAD modeling programs and ability to visualize 3-Dimensional parts based on CAD data. * Experience with a Windows computing environment as well as the ability to learn custom software packages. * Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced environment * Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and strong negotiation skills * Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain a cordial and professional demeanor when working with customers, other departments and team members * Strong communication skills including, listening, speaking, writing and making presentations * Strong computer skills (MS Office applications), including experience with a CRM software * Responsive, proactive and a self-starter with strong coaching and mentoring skills * Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to build rapport and customer trust * Ability to work independently and in a team environment and proven ability to get positive results from a high performance team * Excellent customer relationship management skills, including the ability to successfully deal with escalations * Strong sense of urgency, attention to detail and ability to be highly responsive * Demonstrated ability to work within Protolabs values of Teamwork, Achievement and Trust * Some travel is required Education Requirements: * Formal education (BA/BS degree) preferred All Proto Labs facilities in the United States are ITAR-compliant operations.
