Georgia Pacific is currently seeking a Designer for our Corrugated Packaging business based out of the Innovation Institute in Norcross, Georgia. The person in this role will work collaboratively with Designers and other members of the Innovation Institute to provide a competitive advantage to the GP Commercial organization in the product design space. The ideal candidate will be able to develop design solutions compatible with our current manufacturing capabilities as well as actively develop new technologies and product design solutions addressing emerging customer needs.
The Designer will be exposed to all aspects of GP Design, including direct support of Center of Excellence projects, enabling the opportunity to advance in other roles within the organization in the future. The role will report to the Director of Innovation. Approximately 30% travel may be required to interact with GP facilities or visit customers.
What You Will Do In Your Role
Supports Regional of National Account design requests across multiple manufacturing facilities
Explores new design techniques from concept generation through to technical validation
Independently develops solutions compatible with existing manufacturing capabilities
Collaborates across the Innovation Institute and the broader Design Community
Independently manages project load while providing feedback to Center of Excellence Leaders and the Director of Innovation on risks and key needs
The Experience You Will Bring
Corrugated structural design experience including ArtiosCAD proficiency and CAD table operation
Direct box plant support experience
Ability to travel up to 20% some overnight stays required
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel and Outlook)
What Will Put You Ahead
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science related field
Experience with statistical analysis of experimental data
