Job Description

This position is responsible for providing instruction and tiered support designed to prepare students for current and future success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Consistently uses effective and productive soft skills with all school district stakeholders

  • Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis.

  • Teaches District approved curriculum daily for individual students

  • Serve as a contributing member on the PACE team with other teacher(s), administrators, students, and/or parents as appropriate

  • Collaborate with school Student Intervention Teams for regular student progress monitoring

  • Implement individual behavior plans, including progress monitoring and data collection related to behavior goals

  • Embed Positive Behavior Incentive System into the classroom culture

  • Facilitate a blended learning approach as applicable, including ensuring direct instruction as directed

  • Implement student, school, and district curricular goals.

  • Maintain a structured classroom schedule through collaboration with other staff members and support staff, including but not limited to other teachers, mental health professionals, counselors, special education teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, etc.

  • Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the learning needs of each student daily.

  • Participates in professional development as directed, including but not limited to adult learning around Alternative Learning Environments, Science of Reading, Response to Intervention (academic and behavior), differentiation, crisis management, and job-embedded curriculum development

  • Implements the Science of Reading in all instruction

  • Progress monitor students' growth (academic/social/behavior) and report monitoring data

  • Participates in the school and district wide Social and Emotional Learning program and initiatives

  • Create and maintain a classroom environment that is conducive and appropriate to learning in both appearance and activities

  • Motivate students to learn.

  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of learning objectives (academic and behavior) and curriculum goals daily

  • Aligns clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, etc, to grade level objectives and communicates these objectives to students

  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities daily.

  • Assists students in establishing and maintaining standards of behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere daily

  • Communicate with students and parents on student progress on a continuous basis

  • Actively participates on ALE and/or content and/or grade level team(s) within the school and district

  • Participate in collegial and professional activities within the school and District

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations

  • Develop and administer content specific assessments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels

  • Instruct students for the purpose of improving their success in academics through a defined course of study

  • Maintain personal safety of students

  • Respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and /or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.

  • Ensure that substitutes will have all information necessary for effective instruction

  • Follow state, district, and school policies and expectations

  • Other duties as assigned.
