The Police Assisted Addiction and Recovery Initiative (PAARI) was founded alongside the Gloucester Police Department Angel Initiative in June 2015 and has grown into a movement of approximately 650 law enforcement partners. Members of our National Recovery Corps will strengthen the ability of partnering law enforcement agencies to increase access to care and address addiction and poverty through non-arrest approaches.

This position will be in Nueces County, Texas and this person would assist on developing policies and procedures for a recovery and treatment program and Nueces County Sheriffs Department. The VISTA will assist with building programs for a new Recovery Coach program within the correctional facility for pre-release and re-entry.

This person will create and share educational materials and resources on overdose prevention, harm reduction strategies, and steps toward recovery.

Assist in developing new program initiatives, including planning, resource allocation, and implementation. This VISTA member will establish program needs and implement protocols for the hand-offs for treatment upon release to assist their community's most at-risk populations with substance use disorders and mental health issues. This member will be able to assess the current programming, create a needs assessment and ensure sustainability and fill any necessary gaps.
