P-TECH WORKPLACE COORDINATOR - SOUTH IRVING COLLEGIATE JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: P-TECH Workplace Coordinator
WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Principal
PAY GRADE: 03A - Non-Administrators (220 Days)
DEPARTMENT: Assigned Campus
DATE REVISED: April 2021
This position is eligible for a Chapter 21 contract.
JOB GOAL:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree
Master's Degree, preferred
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate, required
Valid Texas Administrator's Certificate, preferred
Minimum Experience:
Three (3) years of successful classroom experience
Experience in establishing industry and/or community partnerships, preferred
Experience working in higher education, preferred
Experience with developing and implementing workplace learning, preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of workplace learning experiences
Knowledge of P-TECH design and framework
Ability to manage projects effectively from concept development through program implementation
Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, anticipate, and meet deadlines, and respond to changing priorities
Ability to provide support to diverse stakeholders including students, parents, secondary and postsecondary personnel, employer partners and external organizations
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
Bilingual (English/Spanish), preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Curriculum:
DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT INNOVATIVE WORKPLACE LEARNING CURRICULUM
Collaborate with P-TECH staff to create workplace learning opportunities and experiences that address workplace competencies and technical skills
Collaborate with faculty and staff to integrate career research projects, communication skills, resume writing, interviewing techniques, and presentation skills into the core academic curricula
Collaborate with the Industry Liaison, P-TECH staff, and Advisory Board to develop industry- validated assessment tool for workplace competencies and technical skills
Collaborate with P-TECH staff to tailor curriculum to include workplace learning curriculum
Partnerships:
WORK WITH INDUSTRY PARTNER AND ADVISORY BOARD TO COORDINATE ON-SITE WORKPLACE LEARNING EXPERIENCES
Establish and foster industry and community partnerships
Collaborate with Industry Partner and Advisory Board to plan workplace learning experiences
Collaborate with Principal to determine learning objectives of each workplace learning experience
Collaborate with Principal Industry Partner and Advisory Board to determine learning goals, projects, and internship placements
Collaborates with Principal to establish advisory board and steering committee to support guidance on the P-TECH implementation
Hold quarterly meetings with community partners to share information, lessons learned and opportunities to strengthen workplace learning experiences
Professional Development:
CREATE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE P-TECH STAFF
Facilitate workplace learning meetings with teachers and staff
Conduct weekly classroom observations
Lead professional development sessions that train teachers on workplace learning competencies and technical skills
Student Support
WORK WITH TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF TO PROVIDE ACADEMIC, SOCIAL, AND WORKPLACE SUPPORT
Conduct regular check-ins with students, teachers, and managers
Serve as primary contact for industry and community partners
Monitor student participation in the program and provide follow up
Coordinate the development of internship/job placement opportunities for students
Miscellaneous
WORK WITH THE PRINCIPAL ON OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED THAT INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
Coordinate the recruitment process
Attend middle school campuses to share opportunities with students, staff, and families
Assist with academic progress monitoring to ensure post-secondary success
