Ready Mixed Dump Truck Driver & PUP

Must have a valid Commercial Driver's License--Class B to drive the Dump Truck / or a Class A to drive the Dump Truck with the PUP (as needed) is required. Must have an insurable driving record.

Pre-employment physical and drug screen required.

Position Summary

Drive/operate a dump truck with a possible pup trailer to transport sand, rock and/or gravel from the pit or quarry to the plants by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.

Daily perform a pre and post-trip safety check on equipment and the truck to assure a safe and operational vehicle. Document any maintenance that may be required.

Determine the most effective route to and from the delivery site. Maintain mileage reports and accurate log books to meet DOT criteria.

May transport product to an affiliated company &/or pick up product from an affiliated company.

Assist in loading of product &/or make corrections and adjustments as needed.

For delivery of product must verify the load matches the load ticket.

Must tarp and secure load to comply with state, federal and local laws and company safety policy.

At the destination site, remove tarp and securings, if used.

Follow guidelines and instructions by dispatch personnel.

May be required to work in other areas - drive a concrete truck, repair/maintenance in the plant area, yard clean-up, snow removal, pallet repair, or drive other equipment for affiliated companies. Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent. One year of previous experience in a trucking and hauling construction products industry is required. Commercial Driver's License Class A required.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, city directories, road maps, load tickets, SDS sheets and memos.

Mathematical Skills:

General math skills. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to recognize hazards and safety problems.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must have a valid Commercial Driver's License--Class B to drive the Dump Truck / or a Class A to drive the Dump Truck with the PUP (as needed) is required. Must have a good driving record and be able to meet insurability requirements of the company.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Previous commercial truck driving experience is preferred. Must meet the Department of Transportation (DOT) physical requirements and carry a physical exam card, which is to be kept current according to DOT guidelines.

Other Qualifications:

Must be able to work a flexible work schedule during busy season. Must be able to work late or irregular hours.

Previous knowledge of construction and construction products is helpful. Must understand and maintain the internal and external customer service responsibilities of the position.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit while driving; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

Must have agility to maintain balance on a ladder, catwalk or access the bed of a truck. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds to shoulder height. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must wear protective devices as required by the company safety policy in the performance of the job.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions (may be extreme hot and cold). The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts, minimal amount of non-hazardous dust daily and fumes or other possible airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high and precarious places which requires the agility to maintain balance on a dump truck and pup trailer while loading/unloading, tarping and strapping.

May be vibration from the equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to very loud. Must be flexible regarding the work assigned due to temporary job assignments in the Plant or the yard. This is a non-smoking campus.

Condition of Employment:

Candidate is required to meet the above qualifications, task frequency and PPE requirements. Approval of pre-employment reference & background checks, and post offer drug/alcohol testing with back screens (if required) are required as conditions of employment.

Position Summary Drives a transit mixer truck equipped with auxiliary concrete mixer to deliver concrete mix to job sites in the York, NE area. Positions available at other Overland Ready Mixed locations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. Daily perform a pre and post-trip safety check on equipment and the truck to assure a safe vehicle. Document any maintenance that may be required. Maintain log sheet to meet D.O.T. criteria, if required. Backs truck under loading hopper, starts mixer to receive concrete. Follows guidelines and instructions by dispatch personnel. Drives truck to designated job site for unloading. Must distinguish between safe and unsafe conditions at the job site, in traffic and throughout plant areas. Assembles concrete chute and attaches chute to the back of the truck. Controls appropriate levers on truck to discharge concrete according to specifications from the contractor into a wheelbarrow or other conveying container or directly into area to be poured with concrete. Sprays surfaces of truck with protective compound to prevent adhering of concrete as needed. Perform minor maintenance to the assigned vehicle--tire pressure, lube ring on mixer drum and check all fluid levels (water, fuel and oil). When the workload is light, assist other areas--repair/maintenance in the plant area, yard clean-up, or drive other equipment for affiliated companies--if qualified. Other duties as assigned.
