About the Position:

Our Overhead Crane Operators run DC cranes with joysticks from a seated position and will be responsible for the following, including but not limited to: loading and unloading railcars and trucks; become familiar with scrap loading procedures and make up of charges and ladle moves; transfer slag pots, ladles and associated equipment; teem heats; assist the teeming crew in mold setup and stripping; set up, strip and move molds, plates, trumpets and ingots as directed; stripping of overpours, transport ingots from bearing blocks to scale for weighing and then onto furnace for annealing or hot shipment by using tongs, spreader, magnet or bar as indicated by Shipper and transfer ingots from location to location. Our Maintenance Dept. performs frequent inspections so our cranes are kept up to safety and operating standards.

What You'll Do:

  • Perform daily crane inspection and fill out daily maintenance report for the crane.

  • Performs the following functions, including but not limited to:

  • loading and unloading railcars and trucks;

  • become familiar with scrap loading procedures and make up of charges and ladle moves;

  • transfer slag pots, ladles and associated equipment;

  • assist the teeming crew in mold setup and stripping; teem heats; set up, strip and move molds, plates, trumpets and ingots as directed; stripping of overpours,

  • transport ingots from bearing blocks to scale for weighing and then onto furnace for annealing or hot shipment by using tongs, spreader, magnet or bar as indicated by Shipper and transfer ingots form location to location.

  • Operate mobile equipment, as necessary.

  • Performs other duties as deemed necessary.

What You'll Need:

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Commitment to safety

  • Ability to work rotating schedule (including weekends and holidays).

  • Ability to work overtime and up to 12 hours per day, as required.

  • Ability to climb stairs/ladder to access the crane

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.

  • Ability to work at heights.

  • Ability to use computer.

  • Strong work ethic

  • Willingness to learn

  • Must successfully pass the standard Crane Operator Vision Exam

  • Must participate and successfully complete the crane operator's physical and specialized medical testing which will include blood pressure and vision exam in accordance with EQS policy and ANSI standard ASME B30.2-3.

Will be required to submit to a criminal background investigation. Urine and hair follicle drug screening will be required upon offer of employment. Applicants must be able to provide a High School Diploma/GED upon hire.

VIEW JOBS 10/18/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-01-16T00:00 Purpose The Saw/Flow Operator I position receives, locates, stores, handles, and sets up predetermined material (steel or aluminum stock); Operates automatic saw equipment to accurately cut material (steel or aluminum stock) to customer specification; Ensures quality via quality check post cut. Job complexity ranges from simple, highly repetitive tasks to fairly repetitive but difficult tasks, congruent to incumbent's experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Receives, stores, handles, cuts and ships material to meet shop and customer requirements. * Loads and unloads material with the aid of a forklift or an overhead crane, positioning material as required. * Completes paperwork and inputs information into the computer system, updating inventory. * Sets up and operates saw, selecting proper feeds and speeds, adjusting as needed. Maintains necessary coolant concentration, cleaning or replacing coolant as required. * Inspects the quality of the material during and after the cut to make sure the piece is square. * Uses measuring instruments as necessary including, but not limited to tape measuring tape and micrometer. * Checks identification on all material handled by stamping or marking with necessary numbers when required. * Places saw crop ends in scrap boxes according to material grade. * Performs saw blade changes when necessary. * Delivers material to next area of operation as required. * Completes required production reports, using computer system as required. * Reports defective material and faulty equipment to the Operations Manager or Maintenance Department immediately. * Maintains a clean and safe work environment and abides by all plant safety regulations and work rules. Performs safety inspections on cranes, chains, slings and magnets. * Performs other duties as assigned.
