Over The Road Driver
SUMMARY
Drives truck to transport materials to and from specified destinations, by performing the following duties. For this position, the candidate will need a Class A CDL with a tanker and hazmat endorsement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Job duties may vary based on business needs but may result in generating, handling, and/or inspection of hazardous waste and hazardous waste storage. This can include responding or managing hazardous waste spills and incidents based on the sites emergency action or contingency plan. These duties include preparing and managing hazardous waste records such as manifests, inspection logs, waste determination and other reports.
Reads customer orders/shipping papers or purchase orders and schedules deliveries or pick-ups.
Drives truck to destination. Prepares receipts for load picked up.
Responsible for picking up product at vendor warehouse and verifies correct product, volume and paperwork Delivers product to Company warehouse or to customer.
Collects payment for goods delivered and for delivery charges.
Maintains truck log, according to state and federal regulations.
Loads and unloads truck. Picks up empty containers and returns to facility.
Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
Performs emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs.
Positions blocks and ties rope around items to secure cargo during transit.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience; and two to four years related experience and/or training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
May need commercial drivers license. Ability to drive a forklift truck.
