This grant funded position will serve in a limited term capacity through June 30, 2025. Continuation of this position is contingent on grant funding which will be determined before the fiscal year end in June.

Position Description

The position of Outreach Services Specialist presents an engaging opportunity for a motivated individual to focus on youth and families in need. Tasked with operating within priority neighborhoods, the role embraces collaboration with local community organizations and small businesses to enhance awareness and deliver essential support services. Reporting directly to the Youth Services Manager, the specialist will be instrumental in fostering and maintaining relationships with pivotal stakeholders, coordinating impactful outreach initiatives, and providing direct support. What you will get to do:

  • Monitors "hotspots" for crime within community areas in person and online

  • Build community credibility and connections with at risk youth

  • Intensive case management

  • Connects at risk youth and family to CBO resources and available services/navigation assistance

  • Documents case information, collects, tracks and reports data and program performance

  • Collaborates across community networks to share information and gain knowledge related to youth violence

  • Develop and implement community outreach programs.

  • Foster and maintain relationships with community partners.

  • Plan and execute events to raise awareness of services offered.

  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate program effectiveness.

  • Develop and distribute promotional materials.

  • Participate in community meetings and presentations.

  • Assist in budget preparation and monitoring.

  • Provide support to outreach team members.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's Degree

  • One (1) to four (4) years of experience in community outreach, working with youth, community development or services, building relationships with diverse or underserved communities, or related work.

Any combination of qualifying education, training, and/or experienceequivalent to three (3) - six (6) yearsis qualifying.

Additional Qualifications

  • Valid driver license

  • Good driving record (based on the driving matrix below)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as social work, communitydevelopment, or non-profit management.

  • 3+ years of experience in community outreach and engagement, with a focus on serving youth and families.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other relevant software

Driving Matrix:

You will be disqualified from this process if you possess any of the following driving infractions:

  • A major traffic violation or accident (where fault was established as yours) that results in death or major injury.

  • Driving under the influence (DUI) charge within the last 5 years.

  • Have more than 3 moving violations within a 3-year period or more than 2 within a one-year period.

  • Have more than 2 accidents (where fault was established as yours) within a 3-year period.

An offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background, driving record, physical/medical screening and drug screening checks related to this safety sensitive position.

Veteran's Preference

The City of Gresham provides qualifying veterans and disabled veterans with preference in employment in accordance with state law.
