This position is located at Auburn University in Auburn, AL. This is a grant-funded position for supporting an Extension team. Continued employment is based on the continuation of extramural funding and is subject to renewal on an annual basis. Alabama Beginning Farmer and SARE are long-term programs that have been active since 2015.
The Alabama Cooperative Extension System seeks an Outreach Programs Administrator. This individual will plan, coordinate, deliver, and manage outreach or extension educational services and programs to accomplish outreach goals and objectives including communications, education, research, community assistance and quality management.
The Outreach Programs Administrator position is part of the Alabama Cooperative Extension Systems (ACES) Commercial Horticulture Team. This person also serves as a program assistant for Alabama Beginning Farmer (ABF) and Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) Programs that benefit specialty crop producers statewide. This is a 100% Extension position focusing on developing a strong communication system and capacity building as a team player.

Essential Functions
Extension Communications Skills:
Stays on top of industry trends and best practices in graphic design. Introduces innovative and creative concepts that elevate the visual identity of ACES. Ensures consistency and adherence to brand standards in all design outputs. Strong creative and conceptual thinking abilities, with an eye for detail and design aesthetics.
Coordinates or leads various communications projects like the Farming Basics App improvements, virtual events and videos, newsletters and blogs, and social media posts using a planned approach.
Assists in any other functions suggested by the ACES Communications and IT Units related to the Alabama Beginning Farmer, Sustainable Agriculture, integrated pest management (IPM), and Commercial Horticulture Extension Programs that fund the position.
Programmatic Responsibilities:
Collaborates with program teams to develop and coordinate outreach programs targeted to beginning farmers statewide.
Seeks and develops grant proposals for extramural funding from multiple sources, as this position is currently funded by multiple grants. Close collaboration with various faculty members and field personnel may be necessary for this.
Coordinates monthly Alabama Beginning Farmer/Commercial Horticulture Advisory Committee meetings consisting of educators, farmers, and community leaders.
Capacity Building and Program Evaluation for Commercial Horticulture Team:
Assists the team leader in coordinating field training of Regional Extension Agents, County Extension Coordinators, and Extension Specialists.
Assists the Extension team with program evaluations that may require occasional travel to farms, coordinated by the team leader.
Assists in the publication of annual team impact reports and sharing with stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in agriculture communications, agribusiness, agricultural economics, business, consumer economics, or a related field
Experience in the design, implementation, delivery and management of educational programs/services
Level I: Bachelor's Degree; No Experience
Level II: Bachelor's Degree; 2 years experience
Level III: Bachelor's Degree; 4 years experience
Substitutions allowed for Experience:
Graduate degrees accepted in lieu of experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.

Proven experience in graphic design with a strong portfolio showcasing a range of design projects.
