Position Title Outreach & Education Coordinator Position Summary

The Outreach and Education Coordinator will be responsible for providing administrative and programmatic support for the Title IX and Compliance Office. The Outreach and Education Coordinator will effectively and diplomatically serve as a point of contact for the Title IX and Compliance Office and will triage confidential and sensitive matters, and interact with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, administrators, as well as external constituents including media and government officials. The coordinator will assist with the implementation of outreach and educational initiatives aimed at addressing sex and gender-based discrimination, harassment, including sexual violence, dating violence, domestic violence stalking, and other compliance related matters, as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with the development, delivery, tracking and evaluation of educational programming and outreach initiatives to classes, residence halls, student organizations, and campus employees regarding power-based violence prevention, intervention and compliance issues.

  • Assists with coordination and implementation of awareness activities and events throughout the year, e.g., New Student Orientation, Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Awareness Month programming.

  • Assists with resource provision to complainants and respondents in Title IX and VAWA offense related matters.

  • Assists with program and project coordination to include:

  • Maintaining calendars and databases;

  • Preparing print materials and presentations using online tools;

  • Scheduling meetings and performing other duties such as student payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable;

  • Maintaining information that is sensitive confidential and/or confidential;

  • Performs general administrative duties for the Title IX and Compliance Office such as:

  • Greeting the public professionally in person and over the phone;

  • Answering, screening/redirecting phone calls and inquiries using appropriate diplomacy;

  • Read and review all incoming mail in order to be familiar with pertinent projects and issues;

  • Photocopying and scanning

  • Maintaining electronic and hard copy filing systems for correspondence and case files;

  • Oversees all marketing, branding, and communications materials, including print, newsletter, web materials and outreach to students via social media

  • Staffs the Program offices during regular office hours, provide student assistance and respond to requests, and provide advocacy support and resource referrals as needed.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, public health, public administration, women's studies, relations or other related field, or combined education and 2 - 3 years in a higher education or legal/regulatory environment strongly preferred.

This position requires strong customer service focus, communication, time management skills, and the ability to provide high-level administrative support in a fast-paced environment, while demonstrating the ability to interact and work effectively as a team player. Professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills are required to establish and maintain professional relationships with internal and external customers. The ability to use diplomacy and tact is essential. Individual must be able to independently research answers to questions and make appropriate contacts of information on resolution of pertinent issues.

Work requires fact-finding and compilation skills plus ability to manage a variety of tasks and timelines simultaneously, at times with little supervision; and have the ability to organize workload with close attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality at all times in a highly confidential office is a must.

Excellent oral communication skills are required when providing information to accurately convey sensitive/confidential information to students, staff, faculty, campus and Atlanta University Center administrators, and visitors to the campus community. Incumbent must be able to write business correspondences plus compose memos, letters, and emails. A demonstrated knowledge and the ability to utilize various software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Power Point), with high degree of accuracy and speed; social networking tools; online presentation tools (e.g. Prezi); and web applications is required. Also, must be able to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as Federal compliance reports. Good proofreading skills are essential.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in higher education or legal/regulatory environment strongly preferred.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to adjust focus.
