  • Under general direction, administers and coordinates the activities of the Oregon Employment and Education Outreach Program functions to assist Reserve Component Service Members, Veterans, and their Families with employment and educational needs.
  • Serves as a resource for veterans by taking part of events and programs within the community, while also promoting the program.
  • Cultivates relationships with government entities and major local employer to seek opportunities, promote veteran employment and hiring.
  • Creates relationships with local post-secondary entities and their programs of study.
  • Checks eligibility requirements in order to facilitate resources towards the obtainment of employment or education.
  • Provides information in regard to benefits and procedures that must be followed to receive such benefits.
  • Performs related work as required.


  • Bachelor's or Associate degree from an accredited institution
  • One or more years of experience providing customer service through various channels of communication such as phone, email or in person contact.
  • Demonstrated computer skills that include Microsoft Suite, word processing, data entry, and email.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others of various age, ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic background.
  • Self-starter who shows motivation and initiative.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with use of social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram).
  • Dependable and reliable.

VIEW JOBS 2/20/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-05-20T00:00 * Uploading a resume to your application is preferred for this opportunity.* Position Summary: The Alcohol & Drug Outreach Worker is responsible for providing quality outreach services for substance abuse assessment and treatment programs to parents referred by DHS Child Welfare. The A & D Outreach Worker will work individually with parents by building on strengths and reducing barriers to available services, and as a team member with other A & D Outreach Workers and Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselors. Education, Training & Experience: * One year of relevant experience in the chemical dependency field is required. * Experience in the addiction and recovery process required. * Motivational interviewing skills and client engagement strategies preferred. * Certified Recovery Mentor certification preferred. Competencies: * Knowledge of mental health issues and child welfare services. * Ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds. * Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and orally. * Computer literate, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook). * Time management and organizational skills. Additional Eligibility Requirements: * Ability to pass a criminal background check. * Reliable vehicle, active driver's license, current insurance and the ability to pass our insurer's driving standards. * Individual in recovery from alcohol or drug addiction must have maintained continuous sobriety under non-residential, independent living conditions for at least the immediate past two years at the time of hire and maintain sobriety for duration of employment in this role. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: * Help eliminate barriers to treatment for parents referred by DHS Child Welfare by providing transportation, resources, and support. Initial contact with clients' needs to occur within 24 hours of receiving the referral. * Prepare accurate records of client services provided daily by preparing clear, concise reports. * Maintain good communication and relationships with DHS Child Welfare case workers, treatment providers/case managers, coworkers and other community partners. * Attend family meetings, child safety meetings, and Court Review Hearings as needed. Other Responsibilities: * Perform other duties as assigned by Program Supervisor. * Maintain ongoing education and training as needed.
