The Outreach Assistant is responsible for attending in-person recruiting events and supporting the outreach team at Briya Public Charter School - a leading two-generation education program serving immigrant parents and their young children in Washington, D.C. Briya is a Tier One Public Charter School, consistently achieving the highest educational outcomes through its innovative, family-centric programming.

At Briya, adults acquire English, digital literacy, and parenting skills, with some continuing to the school's workforce development programs. At the same time, their young children attend Briya's high-quality early childhood program. Briya's workforce programs include the Medical Assistant and Child Development Associate Programs.

Briya has a strategic partnership with Mary's Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center, further strengthening student families with comprehensive medical, dental, and social services. At three of its four campuses, Briya is co-located with Mary's Center, and many Briya students are

recruited through referrals from Mary's Center staff. The Outreach Assistant is responsible for attending recruiting events and engaging with prospective students to support the outreach team in meeting Briya's annual year-round enrollment goals for the two-generation education program.

The Outreach Assistant position may include, but is not limited to, the following tasks and responsibilities:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-person outreach to eligible families throughout Washington, DC, (daytime,

evenings, and weekends as needed) in places such as:

o Mary's Center reception areas

o DC public school drop-offs/pick-ups, Back to School events, parent-teacher

conferences, and other school-based special events (after obtaining permission from

school staff)

o Local businesses, organizations, and churches

o Information sessions and open houses.

  • Support promotional material organization

o Ensure flyers are available at all sites, Mary's Center reception desks, and outreach

tables.

o Facilitate the delivery of promotional materials to external partners as needed

  • Send new student leads from outreach events and initiatives to register@briya.org.

  • Support the outreach team with class announcements, referral initiatives, and other

outreach activities throughout the school year.

  • Build relationships with local businesses, organizations, and churches that serve our

population to do outreach with their participants.

  • Assist in maintaining the inventory of materials, preparing materials for outreach events.

Other

  • Attend evening and weekend events as needed.

  • Attend and participate in all staff meetings, trainings, and retreats as needed.

  • Take on additional projects and responsibilities to meet the school's needs and enrollment goals as requested, prioritizing, and balancing the team's workload.

Education and/or Experience -

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in a related position

  • English and Spanish proficiency (other languages a plus)

  • Ability to work independently, without immediate supervision, and collaborate across

multiple teams

  • Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out moderately complex, multi-step instructions and make appropriate independent decisions as necessary.
  • Physical Demands
  • Regularly required standing, walking, and sitting, sometimes for many hours at a time; frequently required to reach with hands and arms, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, or hear; must be able to lift objects up to twenty-five (25) pounds.   • Work Environment
  • Ability to regularly travel around Washington, D.C. (this position is external-facing, with about 80% of the assistant's time out of the office) using personal and/or public modes of transportation to meet with partners and attend events with moderate to loud noise levels. Frequently maintains work hours outside of Mon-Fri 9-5, including evenings and weekends, to lead recruitment outreach and events.
