Additionally, R&DE comprises 735 FTE staff in the following divisions: The Office of the Senior Associate Vice Provost, Student Housing, Stanford Dining, Stanford Hospitality & Auxiliaries, Stanford Conferences, and a team of R&DE strategic business partners: Finance & Administration, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Communications.

This role is currently designated as hybrid and may provide incumbents with flexibility for partial telecommuting.

JOB PURPOSE:

  • Lead and manage programs or functions under minimal supervision, provide broad support and leadership in planning, coordinating, and implementing communication programs, oversee written and digital communications and assist with strategic planning efforts, enhance, expand, and assist with the coordination of outreach and engagement activities and relationships with the Stanford community, including Stanford Conferences, Stanford Guest House, and R&DE Student Housing Assignments, and manage and plan the preparation, development, and distribution of written materials and publications for R&DE Student Housing Operations (SHO) communications while working in close partnership with R&DE Strategic Communications and Marketing.

CORE DUTIES:

  • Design and implement effective strategic constituent and internal communications programs, including social media, newsletters, website updates, etc., in collaboration with R&DE Strategic Communications & Marketing and in line with R&DE Student Housing Operations & Stanford Conferences and R&DE mission, vision, and core values.

  • Create, edit, review, approve, and manage the approval process for requested communications, ensuring appropriateness and content accuracy, stakeholder approval, alignment with the mission, vision and core values of R&DE, and compliance with communication standards, policies, and procedures. Exercise appropriate discretion in assessing the need for elevating reviews and approvals to senior leadership.

  • Represent and provide oversight and support for various outreach and engagement events and activities such as Family Weekend, Admit Weekend, New Student Orientation, Alumni Weekend, R&DE All-Hands meetings, R&DE SHOSC meetings, Winter Break, Cardinal Days, resource fairs, etc. Select weekend attendance will be required.

  • Collect and analyze data, create reports, review, and explain trends; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/or recommendations to achieve the goals of the program or function.

  • Organize, plan and/or participate in outreach activities that may include events, conferences, and/or training.

  • Lead the planning and operations for programs or functions that have significant business, regulatory and/or technical challenges requiring subject matter expertise.

  • Evaluate programs or functions, policies, and procedures. Identify issues and develop alternative solutions which may include changes to programs, policies, and procedures.

  • Review and analyze trends to advise and develop recommendations to achieve or modify the goals of the program or function.

  • Represent the program or function within the department, unit, or school. Commit resources and provide information and/or training. Represent the program or function at the university level and/or to external/internal stakeholders and constituencies.

  • Manage and contribute to the development of outreach strategies that may include relationship development, communications, and compliance.

  • May develop and/or oversee budgets; manage finances including monitoring, analyzing, forecasting, and reporting.

  • Assess training needs and may develop associated training.

  • Direct staff to perform various tasks and assignments.

    • Other duties may also be assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred:

  • Mastery of skills in journalism and public relations.

  • Ability to understand and communicate complex and sometimes controversial issues.

  • Proficient computer skills and demonstrated experience with office software, email applications, and working knowledge of programs such as Photoshop, Keynote, and Emma.

  • Proven success in writing for publication in print, web, and other platforms.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Demonstrated ability to oversee all aspects of the writing process.

  • Successfully combine hard (e.g., technical knowledge, critical and analytical thinking, problem-solving) and soft skills (e.g., people skills, communication, such as active listening, interpersonal and intrapersonal relationship, teamwork, emotional intelligence, collaboration/conflict management) to meet position requirements.

  • Ability to promote diversity, multiculturalism, and inclusion in the execution of the role.

  • Experience working in a university, preferably student housing, environment preferred.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment routinely and independently in making decisions.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues at all levels of the organization.

The expected pay range for this position is 111k to 165kper annum or ( $53.36-$79.33 / hour).
