GENERAL SUMMARY:

McLean's multidisciplinary programs treat a broad range of psychiatric illnesses across the full continuum of care.

McLean Hospital is seeking to fill a full-time position for a therapist in Massachusetts outpatient clinics dedicated to the assessment and treatment of young adults in the early stages of psychosis. The position is for 40 hours per week.

As part of a comprehensive outpatient program, the therapist will perform clinical assessments, individual and group therapy with patients, family support in both individual and group settings, and case management services. The clinician will participate in a multidisciplinary team with a flexible, creative approach to addressing the needs of this particular population. The position includes a reliable and reasonable caseload, regular clinical supervision, and educational and training opportunities. Additionally, the clinician will interface with a team conducting a research study on clinical service delivery in early psychosis through regular meetings, but no research background is necessary.

Candidates must be Masters level clinicians in the state of Massachusetts (MSW or higher). Clinical experience working with young adults and familiarity with treating patients experiencing psychosis is preferred.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide clinical services including psychotherapy, case management, and crisis evaluation.

  • Collaboratively work within multidisciplinary care team.

  • Maintain contact with family members as appropriate.

  • Complete documentation and other required paperwork such as treatment plans, progress notes, clinical summaries, and others in a timely manner in accordance with clinic policies.

  • Serve as liaison to other health care professionals both within and outside of the hospital including mental health practitioners and others (e.g., PCP)

  • Collaboratively work with payers and managed care organizations.

  • Participate in program and clinic administrative activities as requested (e.g., staff meetings, hospital committees, etc.).

  • Maintain awareness of medicolegal/risk management issues.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) required; LCSW/LICSW preferred

Some post-degree clinical experience preferred but not required. Clinical experience working with young adults and familiarity treating patients experiencing psychosis are preferred.
