Massachusetts General Hospital is looking for a 30-hour Outpatient Pediatric Occupational Therapist.

This hospital-based outpatient department offers a unique clinical position for a pediatric therapist. Responsibilities includes providing evaluations in the high risk infant NICU follow up clinic, Down's syndrome clinic, Feeding clinic, Neuro- Developmental Clinic, as well as service individual referrals.

This position requires someone to be diagnostic oriented and be comfortable working with a range of ages from infancy-school age with a range of developmental diagnoses, medical complexities, and neurologic needs. The candidate must have solid evaluation skills using a variety of standard batteries and a strong foundation in assessment and treatment of sensory processing disorders.

Consultation with family and school recommendations are a major aspect of this position. Excellent communication and teamwork are essential. You are a member of the therapy team (PT, OT, SLP) and interface with physicians on a regular basis.

Services are provided at MGH main campus as well as at Chelsea Health Care Center.

Must be MA- licensed; pediatric clinical experience is required. Prior Pediatric experience is required.

Position Overview: Provides direct patient care to inpatients/outpatients; evaluation, direct treatment, splint fabrication, functional activities, scar management, and referrals for service. Functions as an integral part of the interdisciplinary team, promoting Family Centered Care. Key Responsibilities: Assesses patient rehabilitation needs, which include physical, developmental and cultural; works with family to assess the patient's functional losses as well as their emotional needs. Develops/follows age specific and culturally appropriate treatment plans based on individual needs. Able to anticipate clinical patient concerns and plan treatment interventions adequately. Teaches family/patient rationale for rehabilitation treatment; routinely assess their learning needs. Fosters critical thinking amongst interdisciplinary team; shares knowledge of musculoskeletal and pediatric care. Integrates new material into clinical practice; appropriately generalizes knowledge to each condition. Job Requirements Graduate of accredited degree program in Occupational Therapy; current Massachusetts Occupational Therapist license. Current certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers. 3-5 years plus Occupational Therapy experience required. Basic Spanish speaking skills strongly preferred.
