Job Description:

The Opportunity:

As an Outpatient Care Coordinator in the dermatology department, you will have a critical role in ensuring a seamless and positive experience for dermatology patients throughout their outpatient care journey. Your exceptional communication skills, attention to detail, and patient-centered approach will be vital in contributing to the overall success of the dermatology practice.

The Work:

  • Perform a variety of administrative duties, including retrieving patient information, scheduling appointments, filing documents, data entry, verifying insurance benefits, and obtaining precertification/authorization when required.

  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness in entering all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information into relevant software applications.

  • Assist healthcare providers in dermatological surgical procedures and provide medical documentation (scribing) as needed.

  • Deliver patient education on dermatological conditions and treatment plans, offering guidance and support to patients and their families.

  • Participate actively in departmental quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and overall efficiency.

  • Provide support to the patient care team, working under appropriate supervision and adhering to relevant rules and regulations.

  • Maintain and manage medical equipment and supplies, including restocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting as necessary.

  • Review and action incoming referrals.

You Have:

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program or certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Health Career Association (NHA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or registration as a Medical Assistant (RMA) by the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA) is required.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification is mandatory.

  • Certification as a Dermatology Technologist by the Association of Certified Dermatology Techs (ACDT) is preferred.

  • Strong organizational skills with acute attention to detail.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and under supervision.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to provide compassionate care to patients.
