How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

This Outlook/VMI Technician will deliver and service the Valero and Phillips 66 refineries inventory of gasses, consumables, and safety products. Additionally, this position does basic troubleshooting and mechanical repairs as needed. This position requires an ample amount of inventory ability/strategy in order to properly service usepoint's within the refinery, and service contractors working for the refinery.

The pay offered is from $31.00 - $38.00 per hour.

You will be responsible for the following tasks and other tasks as assigned:

  • Delivery and replenishment of various industrial products

  • Maintain customer relationships.

  • Enter orders in both Airgas and Customer systems.

  • Communicate with customers, inventory control, and management regarding the status of specialty gas deliveries

  • Perform basic troubleshooting and repair mechanical systems as needed.

  • Review manual stock levels of various inventories at multiple plant departments for reorder

  • Maintain dedicated branch inventory levels for proper replenishment.

  • Tracks and turns in delivery tickets and consignment fill tickets.

  • From time to time VMI responsibilities may include commuting to assigned customer sites to manage customer service relationships and packaged gas inventory of Airgas Cylinders/VGLs on the customer's site.

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate, Bachelor's degree in Business, Welding Technology, or sales preferred.

Required Length & Type of Experience:

  • Valid Class A CDL with HAZMAT, TWIC card, Airbrake & Tube Trailor endorsements

  • Minimum one (1) year of class A experience operating a commercial vehicle

  • Maintain appropriate driver's license, medical card & endorsements

  • No more than two (2) traffic convictions: OR two (2) at-fault accident in the last 3 years; or no more than a combination of one (1) traffic conviction and one (1) at-fault accident in the last 3 years

  • No driving while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance within the last seven (7) years

  • Must be able to work in a drug-free environment

  • Be able to regularly lift 75lbs and move more than 125lbs with the aid of material handling equipment

  • Experience with welding and safety products or related industrial products is a plus.

  • Proficient working knowledge of Google Suite applications.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

  • Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

  • Self-starter; self-motivated; operates with a sense of urgency; can work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrated planning skills and outstanding personal relationship skills.

  • Demonstrates a clear and effective speaking manner to explain information to customers and employees.

  • Strong problem-solver with a high level of attention to detail.

  • Comfortable interacting with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds within Airgas and outside the Company.

  • Moderate to frequent local travel (75% of work time).

  • Requires both indoor & outdoor environments in various seasonal weather conditions.

  • Job requires visitation to various Airgas and customer sites, which have varying environments/conditions, layouts, and accessibility.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSA's):

  • Working knowledge of all Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations for commercial drivers.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Have an intermediate understanding of managing customer site inventory

  • Must consistently demonstrate the ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent customer service and communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Possess the ability to read a map and follow directions to effectively navigate delivery routes.

  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Possess a commitment and desire to work safely and ethically

  • DOT pre-employment and random drug testing applies.
