Job Summary

The Outbound Warehouse Team Lead is primarily responsible for leading the Outbound Warehouse team while performing all outbound operations functions proficiently such as accurately picking orders and loading delivery trucks while being mindful of deadlines. The Outbound Warehouse Team Lead will rotate through warehouse roles as needed, but is responsible for moving beverage cases and kegs in, out of and around the warehouse in a safe, accurate, and efficient manner and for maintaining a clean and organized warehouse.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership Duties:

  • Provide direction and support to new hires and other employees

  • Assist the Warehouse Supervisor in motivating the Outbound Warehouse team toward team goals

  • Respond to email requests in a timely manner

  • Assist in reviewing and submitting contract employee time cards

  • Assist in identifying and correcting safety concerns

  • Complete load sheet balancing for delivery drivers

  • Display respect for all employees

  • Monitor equipment repair needs

  • Attain a thorough knowledge of Encompass

  • Become proficient in driving all delivery trucks; box, rear load, side load, etc.

  • Push orders through delivery optimizer for pickups and assign to warehouse associates

  • Fill in as backup Warehouse Supervisor as needed

Order Filling Duties:

  • Accurately locate and pick orders by reading a pick sheet to verify product type (name, dates, vintages, varietals) and quantity needed and organize orders according to delivery

  • Safely move product from storage to loading area by hand, on forklift or with a pallet jack

  • Maintain daily goal for rate of cases picked

  • Track product that has been picked for an order by using log sheets and pick sheets that are turned in daily

  • Assist fellow employees by hand-selecting product to send them via delivery truck for employee purchase, as requested

Loading Duties:

  • Verify picked orders are accurate by checking product type (name, dates, vintages, varietals) and quantity needed before loading on trucks

  • Build pallets of product according to delivery schedule and truck weight

  • Manually wrap products on pallet for delivery

  • Label products or wrapped pallets with appropriate identifying information such as store name and route number

  • Follow loading schedule to ensure trucks leave on time for delivery

  • Load products from staging area to trucks by hand, on forklift or with a pallet jack and arrange product to maximize space and stability and to accommodate delivery order

  • Track all product loaded on trucks for delivery

General Warehouse Duties:

  • Maintain a clean warehouse environment through cleaning duties such as sweeping, removal of debris or products in walkways and cleaning of products and equipment

  • Safely operate warehouse equipment (vans, forklifts, pallet jacks, and pick carts) according to OSHA/DOT and Imperial rules and regulations

  • Maintain a safe warehouse environment by adhering to safety rules, regulations and procedures, including equipment maintenance procedures

  • Additional duties and responsibilities to be determined

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 3 months warehouse/materials handling experience preferred

  • 18 years of age or older

  • Leadership skills to direct employees

  • Ability to coordinate processes and work well with various departments

  • A demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, assess priorities effectively and follow through to completion

  • Conflict resolution skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and decision making ability

  • Positive attitude

  • Communication skills with the ability to provide clear direction

  • Basic computer skills for use of email, time clock, and data entry

  • Ability to compute basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) without a calculator

  • Listening skills to follow instructions from manager

  • Flexibility to work with scheduled break times and varying shift end times

  • Self-starter with a high productivity level

  • Sense of urgency and attention to detail while working within deadlines

  • Ability to work with teammates in a united effort

  • Customer service skills

  • Chauffeur's license preferred, but only required for deliveries

  • Forklift license preferred, but not required

The employee may be exposed to varying temperatures and must be able to perform physical tasks in hot and cold areas of the warehouse and on trucks.
