ABOUT THE JOB:

The Distribution Manager establishes and maintains smooth operation of the Distribution/Warehousing Department and helps provide 24-hour coverage.

  • Grocery industry experience and AS/400 mainframe computing experience are preferred for this position.

Maintain facility in a safe manner in accordance with company standards and governmental standards such as OSHA.

Investigate and resolve unsafe conditions; coordinate safety investigations.

Benchmark and manage distribution center aspects of profit and loss statement; ensure that procedures are cost-effective.

Assign accountability within staff to rack and trend Key Performance Indicators (KPI).

Assist Transportation Manager to resolve issues between warehousing and distribution.

Direct and motivate Teammates and provide training to maintain an efficient and knowledgeable workforce.

Conduct performance reviews and recommend salary adjustments.

Additional duties and/or special projects may be assigned at the position supervisor's discretion.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field; internal McLane experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

At least 5 years of outbound and inbound warehousing experience.

Knowledge of distribution systems.

Experience managing a large warehouse staff with experience in hiring, training, and motivating teammates and resolving employee relations issues.

Understand financial statements and resulting cost implications; identify financial issues and provide cost-effective solutions.

Good computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, Access).

Candidates must pass a background check, drug screen and other job requirements.

The Distribution Center (DC) Supervisor establishes and maintains successful operations of an assigned area, department, or shift of the warehouse/distribution center. PREFERRED qualifications for this position include: Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field OR equivalent experience internal or external to McLane; grocery industry experience; ability to work a flexible schedule as needed. Understand and implement DC goals and standards related to areas such as productivity, order quality, damages, shrinkage, safety, sanitation, turnover, and overtime. Ensure that department and warehouse procedures add value for customers and reduce unnecessary costs. Supervise and manage daily work of department teammates; create and maintain schedules and job assignments. Provide training, coaching, and corrective action as needed. Ensure adherence to proper operational and safety procedures; be a visible and vocal advocate for safety. This position has additional duties; special projects may be assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or GED. 3 years of distribution warehouse experience.
