Job Title: Off-The-Road (OTR) Tire Technician

Summary:

Employee will be responsible for all aspects for tire and related service and repair for off-the-road equipment (construction, earthmoving, mining, farm etc.) as well as other duties as assigned by the manager. Industry leading hourly + commission pay scale.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Must have a valid drivers license for the type of vehicle required for the position and be able to meet commercial driver qualification requirements. CDL license required.

  • Operation of a 30,000 pound GVW OTR Service Boom Truck.

  • Follow established procedures to inspect tires, and wheels before and after service.

  • Determine repairable tire conditions and make such repairs.

  • Review work orders and discuss work with supervisors.

  • Document work performed accurately and according to company policy.

  • Operation of heavy duty tire service equipment and tools including boom cranes, cribbing, jacks, compressors, electric and hydraulic equipment.

  • Unbolt and re-bolt wheels from/to equipment, using lug wrenches and other hand and power tools.

  • Mount and dismount any type of off-the-road tire including but not limited to multi-piece rims.

  • Match mating of dual assemblies.

  • Identify and inflate tires correctly for the size, ply, and load requirement.

  • Replace valve stems and remove puncturing objects.

  • Perform service calls on nights and/or weekends on a rotating basis.

  • Proper maintenance of assigned service vehicle including appearance as well as on board service equipment and tools.

  • Compliance with OSHA and MSHA regulations and safety requirements pertaining to this position.

  • Static Strength- the ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.

  • Knowledge of commonly used tools- Ability to recognize and used a variety of tools, including but not limited to power tools, and heavy duty tire service equipment.

  • Operating Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, or Equipment- Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, and commercial vehicles.

  • Performing General Physical Activities- Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling or materials.

  • Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Material- Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.

  • Making Decisions and Solving Problems- Analyzing information and evaluation results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. Job duties may be done at Colony Tires location, at customer locations and on service calls at customer work sites. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. This position operates in all types of indoor and outdoor work environments, there for exposure to heat and cold is to be expected. The employee must regularly lift up to 100 pounds, frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. As a result, minor workplace injuries are not uncommon, but employees usually can avoid serious accidents if safe practices are observed.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalency, and/or related experience is preferred but not required. OTR service training and certifications preferred but not required.
