Full of scenic beauty and diversity, Greenville is conveniently located inland off the North Carolina coast, only 85 miles east of Raleigh, and 87 miles west of the Atlantic Ocean.

The Registered Nurse position working in the WBJ Center Opioid Treatment Program provides professional nursing care and treatment to an outpatient addiction and psychiatric treatment program.  This Registered Nurse position is responsible for assessments, monitoring, collaboration with outside entities, scheduling, providing assistance to the providers and assisting with medication management..  Other job responsibilities are as follows:

  • Assist in all areas of patient care.

  • Assist with providing dosing of medication to patients at the direction of the Medical Director.

  • Must be able to discuss and/or counsel patients relating to their medication regiment.

Position will be assigned to Woodside Treatment Center Outpatient OTP Center and will typically work Monday

  • Friday 5:30 am

  • 2:30 pm, Weekend Coverage as needed

About the Walter B. Jones Center:

The Walter B. Jones Center operates two adult inpatient treatment programs on-site in Greenville, NC: (1) Woodside Treatment Center and (2) Lakeside Psychiatric Hospital.

 The primary purpose and mission of the Walter B. Jones Center is "To provide inpatient treatment, psychiatric stabilization and medical detoxification for individuals with mental health, substance use and other co-occurring psychiatric diagnoses for ongoing community-based treatment and recovery".  The Center is accredited by the Joint Commission and SAMHSA/CSAT.  Two specialty programs are offered to all 100 NC Counties: (1) Inpatient Opioid Treatment for adults and (2) Inpatient Perinatal Services for women in their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimesters with substance use disorders.

  • Proven knowledge of professional principles, practices and theory of nursing in and its application.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.

  • Demonstrates patience in dealing with patients, clients, and families.

  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate information to patients, families and staff in a concise and descriptive manner, verbally, in writing or by demonstration.

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.

Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.

Management Preference:

Professional Nurse with clinical experience

Experienced in working in an outpatient OTP program in North Carolina

Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus

Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:

A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).

An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:

(1) the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);

(2) the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;

(3) or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
