The OT Automation Supervisor will make an impact by -

  • Supervise, coach and mentor direct reports in the performance of their duties, complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports.

  • Design, build, install and maintains mission critical software used for environmental monitoring and sensitive site management.

  • Participate in design meetings and consult with THD team members to create, refine, test and debug programs to meet business needs.

  • Ensure reliability, efficiency, and safe operations of the automated systems. Direct and coordinate timely recovery from automation outages and emergency repairs. This position is both a supervisor and individual contributor.

  • Provide project support on various automation platforms and systems including but not limited to PLC, SCADA, configuration, and integration projects.

  • Will be responsible for SCADA system designs including development of block diagrams, control system network and communications systems, schematics, panel layouts and I&C plan drawings.

  • Proficiency in PLC and HMI programming utilizing Studio 5000 and Factory Talk View ME/SE. Allen-Bradley ControlLogix Hardware Platform

  • Provide programming support for plant PLCs, including Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, Compact Logix, SLC, and Micro Logix processors.

  • Update, maintain, and add new programming as needed to support process and utility system needs.

  • Configuration of communications networks including Ethernet, Device Net and ControlNet

  • Provide programming support for plant HMIs in a server distributed system, using Factory Talk View Studio. Configure and edit HMI stations.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and program Variable Frequency Drives. Knowledge of drive configuration for both hard-wired and drives networked via Control Net, using HIMs, Drive Executive, and RSLogix 5000

  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot 4-20ma and 0-10vdc loops, ensuring proper scaling and configuration of both the instrument and the analog module.

  • Will be responsible for programming of SCADA (Ignition) & MES (Sepasoft) system controllers / PLCs.

  • Willingness to work outside of normal working hours for SCADA start-up and support activities.

  • Actively support the Manufacturing organization through troubleshooting, problem identification and resolution.

  • Maintain THD operation within a 24/7 manufacturing environment where ultimately all activity is to maintain operation continuance through the elimination of downtime, improved first pass quality, increased throughput or reduced operating cost.

  • Initiate, plan and coordinate work performed by other associates, contractors, and /or self. (unplanned, planned, changeovers, etc.)

  • Prioritize and manage work assigned to ensure immediate response to emergencies, diagnose faults quickly and make immediate repairs.

  • Be a lead in technical troubleshooting the process, mechanical and electrical (power and interlock) issues which prevent meeting the shift or weekly schedules.

  • Develop, test, and implement new software programs on-time and on budget.

  • Ensure the design and development of technology solutions properly fulfill all business requirements.

  • Test, maintain and recommend software improvements to ensure strong functionality and optimization.

  • Development of technical specifications and plans.

  • Perform analyses to determine the root cause of the most critical and repetitive failures.

  • Troubleshoot and install electrical/mechanical components with AC up to 400/480 volts and DC up to 24 volts.

  • Be accountable to the Turkey Hill Food Safety and Quality Principles.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

You could be a great fit if you have these things:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.E.E./B.S.C./B.S.M.E.); and Four (4) years related automation experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 3 + years of hands-on PLC experience, preferably Rockwell in addition to SCADA experience, preferably with panel view, Factory Talk and Ignition Automation

  • Prior experience in SQL and with Sepasoft. Use of MES/MOM software and applications.

  • Automation integration experience (electrical, mechanical, controls, software interfacing)

  • Experience with HTML 5, Python, MQTT, Microsoft .NET, ASP.NET, MVC, API, ASP.NET Core technologies, JavaScript (Angular/React), Edge computing.

  • Experience with data collection from manufacturing systems, end user reporting, and custom applications.

  • Advanced knowledge of electrical and controls systems.

  • Knowledge of industry safety standards and lockout procedures.

  • Ability to solve problems with plant equipment and perform complex system tests.

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred as excellent organizational, supervisory/leadership skills are needed.

  • Strong attention to detail, effective time managements skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Demands:

  • The employee is required to talk and/or hear in an office setting (noise level is low) and manufacturing setting where noise levels can be high (PPE required).

  • The employee is frequently required to stand and walk in an office or manufacturing environment from 4-8+ hours.

  • The employee must be able to ascend and descend stairs, and where applicable and when necessary, to perform various job-related tasks.

  • Must be able to position self to move, reach with arms/hands, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed to perform various job-related tasks.

  • The employee must be able to inspect all job-related equipment (office or floor) to ensure it is in good working condition prior to use. Must be able to use hands/fingers to handle (or feel) to operate various types of office equipment.

  • Must be able to operate all job-related equipment (powered, hand or office) as required.

  • Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception and adjust focus.

  • Ability to lift 20 pounds and/or push/pull 20 pounds on a regular or occasional basis.
