Position Summary
This is professional work responsible for establishing and administering Maine Medical Center's and its subsidiaries' safety policies, procedures and programs. This includes ensuring that Maine medical Center and its subsidiaries are in compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as implementing safety training programs and spends the majority of work time in the field. This position assumes membership on MMP's Safety Committee as well as serving on The Environment Of Care's (EOC) various subcommittees and reports to the MMC Safety Manager.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Physics or equivalent years of field experience directly related to occupational health (industrial hygiene) and safety.
License/Certifications: Must have a valid drivers license, good driving record and reliable transportation.
Experience: See "Education." 1-2 years' field training/experience.
Ability to plan, calibrate, set up, operate air pumps and lap top computers to collect air, fiber or particulate samples in breathing zones or areas of interest, using established IH scientific protocols.
Identify and analyze a wide variety of loss control and safety problems including areas of life safety, hazardous materials and waste, and industrial hygiene, formulate and communicate sound solutions; and put approved recommendations into effect.
