Description:

Trinity Health Of New England is looking for a Orthopedic Technician/Nursing Assistant to join our team of mission-driven healthcare caretakers. This person is responsible for assisting while providing exceptional care to patients with a variety of medical conditions.

Under the supervision of the Physicians and Registered Nurse, provides direct care and performs selected functions for orthopedic patients of all ages in accordance with established policies and procedures. The Orthopedic Technician/Nursing Assistant collects and reports patient information and data as directed; helps assigned patients with all activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, diet and fluid intake, elimination, skin care, bathing and dressing, positioning, transfers, mobility, and ambulation and may also perform selected tasks, such as patient transport, collection of specimens, distribution of linens and supplies to patient rooms, and delivery of ice and beverages to patients as directed.

The Nursing Assistant provides care according to hospital procedures in a manner that protects the safety and dignity of patients.

Work Hours/Shift:

  • Full-Time, 36 hoursevening shift (12 hour shifts 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.) must work every other weekend and holiday as scheduled

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Exceptional Patient Care: Contributes to overall quality of nursing care through performance improvement techniques that impact patient care positively.

  • Excellent Communicator: Communicate effectively (written and verbal) with admin, colleagues, patients and family member.

  • Strong Educator: Educate patients and family members so that they have a transparent understanding of the care being provided.

  • Technical Familiarity: Understanding in computer-based applications (E-MAR, clinical documentation), email, and standard applications such as Microsoft Office.

  • Active Teamwork: Demonstrates problem solving, conflict resolution, and positive communication through teamwork.

Requirements:

  • Education: Must possess a minimum of a high school diploma/GED. A graduate of an approved Nurse Aide Training Program. Specialized training in aseptic technique and orthopedic policies and procedures.

  • Certification: Current Connecticut Nurse Aide Registry certification required. BLS certification required

  • Ability to pass drug screenings and background checks

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience: Previous experience as a Nursing Assistant in an acute care setting preferred. Ability to read, write and speak English and do simple math problems. Experience using a computer highly desirable.
