The Orthopedic Technician provides orthopedic patient care services specifically related to casting, bracing and traction in the Pediatric Orthopedic Center at Miller Children's & Women's Hospital Long Beach. Under the direction of a physician, he/she is responsible for providing orthopedic support care including casting, bracing, and application of traction as needed. The Orthopedic Technician performs these duties with a focus on ensuring patient safety, comfort, and privacy.
Successful completion of Orthopedic Technician Program is preferred.
A current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) certification is required.
1 year Peds experience required
1 years of prior relevant work experience in orthopedics and casting is preferred. Departmental training may be considered for exceptional candidates.
Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology is desirable.
