San Mateo County Health is seeking one an experienced Orthopedic Technician to fill a Part-Time, Extra-Help vacancy in the San Mateo Medical Center.
The successful hire will work in the Specialty Clinics. Duties will include, under the general supervision of a Charge Nurse, applying and removing plaster or fiberglass casts and splints on patients with fractures, sprains, or torn muscles; ordering supplies; maintaining cast working area; assisting the supervising physician or nurse as needed; and assist with simple surgical procedures in other clinics and with admission and screening of patients.

NOTE: This is an extra-help, at-will assignment, paid on an hourly basis. Extra-help hours are dependent on the business needs of the department and therefore work hours may vary from week to week. Extra help employees shall not exceed 1,040 hours of work per fiscal year. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:
One year of experience in a hospital, institution, nursing home or private practice which has included direct basic patient care.

Please list where you gained the experience, the duties and responsibilities you performed, and how long you worked in that capacity.
