Why choose Mercy's Ortho Unit
Orthopedic nurses provide compassionate care to patients with musculoskeletal conditions. These nurses specialize in treating issues such as fractures, joint replacements and arthritis, in conjunction with orthopedic doctors and surgeons.
Nurses in orthopedics perform some specialty duties in addition to providing care to general medical surgical patients. The unit provides care for adult and geriatric patients recovering from total joint replacements, fractures, some traumas, falls, accidents, and sports injuries and patients who are in need of rehabbing to restore self care abilities. Orthopedic nurses provide a therapeutic environment for the diagnosis and recovery of conditions requiring surgical intervention.
This includes prompt detection of emergency conditions, preventing complications associated with surgery, and educating the patient and/or family. It is very rewarding to see patients come in from a fall or a total joint and watch them progress with therapy to where they are walking in the hall and doing stairs prior to discharge.
New Graduates or Experienced Nurses are welcome to apply!
