A scheduling coordinator's main responsibilities will be answering the phone, scheduling appointments, confirming appointments, monitoring the schedule, taking payments, going over patient balances, and verifying patient insurance coverage. It is essential to be friendly, have a 'can do' personality and work in a timely manner. To be successful as a scheduling coordinator you should be highly organized and attentive to needs. An outstanding scheduling coordinator should have an excellent understanding of multitasking up front responsibilities while greeting patients with a smile.
Responsibilities:
Interact with patients in a positive professional manner via telephone and in person
Schedule and confirm appointments
Review and educate patients on treatment plans and financial responsibilities
Accurately confirm insurance benefits, communicate, and collect patient payment obligations.
Maintain and manage patient records from initial forms and paperwork through billing procedures with accurate data entry of all patient information
Respond to and reply to requests for information
Maintain strict compliance to HIPPA and patient privacy
Perform other related job duties as assigned
Obtain and record in Cloud 9 New Patient paperwork/ Updated paperwork and scan into patient documents (Patient information, dental history, Medical History, Consent forms).
Basic understanding of orthodontic knowledge.
Understanding of orthodontic insurance for patient education.
Performing administrative tasks such as appointment scheduling, answering phones, confirming appointment, checking daily for patient balances, collecting payments, going over contracts, checking mail weekly, scanning in approved invoices and sending email to correct department.
Good communication skills with Financial Coordinator, Treatment Coordinator, and Insurance Coordinator.
Always providing excellent patient care.
