Position Description
As the Ortho Conversion Specialist for the Central Region-US, you will act as a Player/Coach, responsible for selling the clinical value of the Alexis Orthopaedic Wound Protector directly to surgeons while simultaneously working closely with the Regional Ortho Manager, supporting the training and development of the Clinical Specialists within the team. As the Conversion Specialist, you will act as the Product Specialist to promote the benefits of using the Alexis Orthopaedic Protector in surgeries, such as total hip and shoulder replacements, and supporting new product evaluations with new and existing Surgeons, troubleshooting in surgeries with Surgeon's who may need additional training; with the inevitable intent of converting Surgeon's preference cards to include Alexis Ortho for all future cases. This role will be equally weighted to support the growth and development of the clinical specialist team for your region. You will also be responsible for growing sales in a small geography by scheduling product evaluations with surgeons and surgical groups.
You will be responsible for driving growth and utilization of our Alexis Orthopaedic Protector by performing the following activities:
Establish and maintain relationships with surgeons and key contacts in assigned hospital accounts
Provide the highest levels of support and service to your accounts
Coordinate with the Ortho Manager regarding training and education of Ortho Clinical Specialists, and all post-conversion support during evaluations
Work closely with the Ortho Manager in working with and mentoring selected Ortho Clinical Specialist
Provide product support in the OR during evaluations
Act as the Applied Medical Team Leader during evaluations
Manage post evaluation activities
Collaborate with Ortho Specialist in converting high volume or challenging surgeons
Work closely with Clinical Development on product enhancements as suggest by surgeons
Support Clinical Education Specialist with selected labs and trade shows
Exceed growth expectations in your geography
Position Requirements
Bachelor's degree
Minimum of 5-7 years of documented, successful experience in outside sales (B2B or similar)
Relevant medical device and operating room experience
Formal sales training
Cold calling experience to surgeons and physician assistants
Resourceful, goal-oriented, self-starter with a strong entrepreneurial drive
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to travel for applicable training, coaching, labs, and trade shows
Preferred
Over 2 years of Leadership experience managing teams with direct reports
Relevant experience in Orthopaedic procedures (total joints/ hips/ shoulders)
Existing knowledge base of anatomy and physiology focused on the musculoskeletal system
Experience building relationships with OR directors, nurse managers, clinical coordinators, nurse educators and materials management administrators
Demonstrated performance record with clear documentation of success
Existing established relationships and/or understanding of the Orthopaedic medical device market
Resourceful, goal-oriented, self-starter with a strong desire to manage sales professionals
