The Risk Framework Initiative (RFI) is a Risk Management and Compliance wide program focused on determining an integrated target state across risk management activities and developing related infrastructure to support the target state framework. Program areas of focus are a reflection of first line of defense input and identified pain points combined with strategic efforts underway in Risk Management and Compliance.

The ORM Practices and Initiatives Analyst within U.S. Bancorp's Operational Risk Management (ORM) Frameworks team will collaborate across risk programs to deliver upon initiatives which drive consistent process, data capture, and alignment to foundational policies and core risk framework. Resource will manage a suite of projects aligned to continuous improvement efforts surrounding risk program approach and enablement.

Key roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Strong experience with banking risk program administration and common approaches to execution

  • Experience with initiative/project management disciplines, including planning and tracking, as well as a track record for project delivery.

  • Identifying improvement opportunities

  • Collaborate effectively across many different teams and stakeholders with potentially competing priorities

  • Consume, aggregate, analyze and present data to direct management as well as contribute to executive-level presentations

  • Exposure to common governance, risk and compliance (GRC) platforms

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Seven to ten years of experience in an applicable risk management environment

  • Applicable professional certifications

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Banking/Financial Services experience preferred

  • Applicable certifications (i.e. CPA, CIA or additional risk management credentialing or education relevant to position)

  • Experience using RSA/Archer platform

  • Considerable knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, financial services, and regulatory trends that impact their assigned line of business

  • Considerable understanding of the business line's operations, products/services, systems, and associated risks/controls

  • Considerable knowledge of Risk/Compliance/Audit competencies

  • Strong process facilitation, project management, and analytical skills

  • Must possess business acumen and credibility to help business line(s) proactively identify and address changing workforce needs

  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient computer navigation skills using a variety of software packages, including Microsoft Office applications and word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations

  • A background within a highly regulated industry and a large, dynamic organization with experiences related to risk management

  • Experience with large-bank risk and compliance programs and related data infrastructure

  • Excellent written and oral communication and meeting facilitation skills

Guide and support programs that seek to leverage real-world data, from R&D to clinical research, or surveillance, through close collaboration with the respective functional experts. Develop new models and approaches, and drive alignment across various stakeholders within and outside of Medtronic. * Establish enterprise know-how for the extraction and use of real-world data. * Support the development of new methods for areas such as data quality assessments and management of data collected during routine clinical care, or data linking and aggregation approaches. * Find opportunities and understand limitations of natural language processing, machine learning and other AI approaches, and define where and how algorithms can be used. * Become an expert for the extraction and use of real-world data from Electronic Medical Records. * Provide specifications and directions to clinicians/data analysts/data engineers/statisticians in the business units or geographies. * Develop models, policies, guidelines and procedures around real-world data that can be shared throughout Medtronic. * Build and contribute to a community of innovators * Develop and/or apply data modeling methods and software. Define best practices for the use of real-world data to leverage across Medtronic. * Drive documentation and dissemination of learnings and results. * Cultivate Medtronic's leadership influence – External and internal * Visualize data to effectively communicate with internal leadership. * Participate in leading external initiatives (e.g., conferences, forums). * Remain current with leading-edge analytics and tools by attending conferences and networking with data scientists within and outside Medtronic. Share such knowledge with Medtronic clinical researchers and statisticians. * Contribute to publications in peer-reviewed journals. Must Have: Minimum Requirements IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION, THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE EVIDENT ON YOUR RESUME * Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience working with data (i.e., electronic healthcare data or other large datasets), or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience as listed above * Healthcare industry experience * SQL / SQL programming experience Nice to Have * Advanced degree in an analytical field such as data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, economics, or finance * Proficient in R or Python * EHR Data Model Certification * Experience in healthcare delivery, healthcare insurance, medical device, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical industries. * Experience in health services research and advanced Machine Learning techniques, including predictive modeling, study population selection, model feature selection, and statistical methodology (e.g., linear and non-linear regression, survival analysis and longitudinal repeated measures) * Strong critical thinking skill set; ability to identify issues and propose solutions. * Communicate effectively with both technical and business personnel. * Be flexible, detail-oriented, and have good time management skills. * Capable of operating independently and a self-starter.
