This role supports fraud risk management within the Global Independent Fraud Risk team.

The role serves as an Independent Fraud Risk SVP / leader, with responsibilities to provide Fraud Oversight for the North America Businesses e.g. Global Consumer Bank and the Institutional Client Group.

Key Responsibilities:

Process:

  • Oversee implementation of fraud strategy, policy and projects.

  • Lead fraud thematic and product oversight reviews in the region.

  • Provide subject matter expert advice on emerging Digital & Authentication solutions in the fraud domain space.

  • Work with businesses in driving Proof of Concept & Production deployment strategy, which fully leverages the Citi Innovation labs and external vendors.

  • Oversee compliance to all policies and procedures established at the group level including connected Financial Crimes disciplines.

  • Lead discussion with Product Development, Information Security, Channel owners and Industry Peers.

  • Guide and assist in the implementation of sound and effective fraud processes and monitoring across North America Portfolios (Global Consumer Bank and Institutional Client Group).

  • Provide counsel on fraud cases and fraud management related policies, ensuring an independent review of policy compliance.

  • Work with the compliance, operations and credit teams to strengthen the front-end verification and other processes (e.g. identity validation, funds transfer, Pin process, verification strategies).

  • Facilitate and disseminate best practices across all LoBs.

People:

  • Assist fraud managers (1st line) and their teams to manage staff including training and career development plans and to ensure high morale among prevention, detection and recovery staff.

  • Champion fraud awareness and best practice sharing with various business stakeholders and aid in the development of fraud risk management training modules.

  • Raise the level of fraud awareness among country fraud officers and other related staff.

  • Represent the fraud function with Regional & Business Executives to ensure appropriate levels of investment are made in controls, in relation to business product direction and emerging threats.

Financial:

  • Ensure fraud losses are operating within the defined Risk Appetite parameters.

  • Track fraud losses versus plan and counsel /review of individual countries / portfolios.

  • To be an expert in the Cards, Banking and Payments (including non-core) industry in terms of fraud prevention/management practice/programs.

  • To interface with Industry Associations (FISC, VISA, MasterCard) to drive law enforcement in favor of the business.

  • To work with Citi Security & Investigative Services (CSIS) in collating and analyzing fraud trends and syndicated criminals activities.

  • Comply with the financial and accounting policies setup by the Risk group office.

Qualifications

University degree; Graduate or postgraduate in Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Econometrics, Engineering or any other computationally intensive disciplines.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • A seasoned fraud risk professional with 12+ years of Fraud Risk Management in Banking, Payments or Fintech arena.

  • Extensive experience with payment products in Consumer or Institutional Banking.

  • Understanding of Authentication, Technology & Emerging Digital capabilities.

  • Understanding of analytical and statistical models supporting the digital / authentication capabilities.

  • Thought leadership and clarity in presenting ideas to senior management.

  • Understanding and management of various drivers and metrics and the impact on Citi's P&L.

Management:

  • Ability to work effectively with individuals with diverse backgrounds and positions

  • Ability to work independently and mentor team members.

  • Ability to communicate complex technology ideas effectively and persuasively

  • Ability to influence and stablish relationships with key stakeholders from remote locations

Functional Background:

Technical Skills:

Key Responsibilities: Serves as a senior Credit, Fraud & Disputes operations compliance risk manager for Independent Compliance Risk Management (ICRM) responsible for establishing internal strategies, policies, procedures, processes, and programs to prevent violations of law, rule, or regulation and design and deliver a risk management framework that maintains risk levels within the firm's risk appetite and protect the franchise. In addition, engages with the ICRM product and function coverage teams, in order to partner to develop and apply CRM program solutions that meet the function/business/product and customer needs in a manner consistent with the Citi program framework. Primary responsibilities include monitoring compliance risk behaviors, providing day-to-day Compliance advice relating to operations, financial requirements, and guidance on the supported function/business/product and the associated rregulatory rules/laws and interpretation on internal policies and procedures. Key activities include: * Designing, developing, delivering and maintaining best-in-class Compliance, programs, policies and practices for ICRM.
